Taylor helps lead Cougars to twin victories

Tiquale Taylor helped lead Escambia Academy to victory over Clarke Prep (61-43) and Jackson Academy (61-37) last Thursday and Friday.
During the contest against Clarke Prep, Taylor scored 19 points to pave the way for the Cougars. Bryant Quimby struck for 14 points to supplement Taylor’s performance. Tyrese Smith scored nine points; Li’Terrance McCants added eight. Jayson Helton ruled the boards, pulling down 13 rebounds.
Taylor continued his double-digit game performance against Jackson Academy, scoring 26 points to help the Cougars mangle the Eagles.
Smith scored 13 points, McCants had nine points, and Jayson Helton and T.J. Riley chipped in four points each. Jaybo Davis had three points; Hunter Smith and Landon Sims added one each.
With the wins, the Cougars advance to 9-4 overall, but continue to be left out of the ASWA AISA rankings.
According to the January 10 rankings, Evangel Christian (15-1) continues to lead the poll, with Autauga Academy (4-2) in the second slot. Lee-Scott (13-3) rounds out the top three.
The Cougars will travel to Montgomery and face Success Unlimited Academy this Thursday.
