Atmore Christian School’s Gage Gades helped lead the Rams past the L.E.A.D. Academy Lions, 57-28, on January 9.
Gades scored 16 points, leading the Rams to a much-needed victory upon returning from the Christmas holiday break, a win that extended their season record to 6-5.
“We played a great game against a good team,” ACS head coach Tim Battles said. “I am proud of my guys for a well-played game. It was important to be able to come back from the break and start off on a good note.”
Caeden Battles and Jordon Torres also hit double figures. Battles notched 14 points, and Torres scored 11.
“I have been working with Caeden,” Battles said. “We have been trying to improve his shooting performance rather than his scoring. It is important to be able to shoot well.”
Battles also stressed that Torres continues to be a team leader, on and off the court.
Before every contest, Torres shakes the hand of each opposing player, demonstrating a picture-perfect example of good sportsmanship.
Others who scored for the Rams were Noah Pimprel (5 points), Drew Shelly (4), Jace Weber (3), Reese White (2) and Titus Dean (2).
The Rams will attempt to improve the season record even more when they face Lighthouse Christian Academy this Thursday, January 16.
“They (Lighthouse) have a good team,” Battles said. “They will offer a challenge to us as we advance in our season schedule. I told the guys that the competition will become tougher as we prepare to advance into the late stages of the season.”
