The Escambia Academy dance team had a unique opportunity to perform during the New Year’s Day Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla. last week as Alabama took on Michigan.
EA dance team members Hillary Huskey, Emma Hall, Rubye Nix, Hannah Stone and Kadence Kolbe were chosen during the Auburn Dance Camp earlier this year to be part of the halftime entertainment at the college bowl game.
According to EA’s dance team instructor, Carolina Smoak, the girls had a unique opportunity to work with other dance team members from all over the nation.
“We were sent a video of the dance a couple of weeks before the game,” Smoak said. “While we had other events that we were also performing at, the girls had only a blink to get ready.”
According to Smoak, the girls performed with over 300 other dance team members from all across the nation.
“This was a unique opportunity,” she said. “This will aid the girls in prepping for college, as a few of them want to perform for a college dance team.”
The girls not only enjoyed a behind the scenes look and VIP treatment at the Citrus Bowl, they also had the opportunity to visit Disney World and Universal to blow off some steam while in Orlando.
“This was a fun and exciting opportunity for the girls,” said Smoak. “We are all very proud of them.”
