Mary June Townson

Mrs. Mary June Townson, age 75, of Enterprise, Ala., passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at her home. She was a native of Canoe, Ala., and former longtime resident of Atmore, Ala. and had resided in Enterprise for the past two months. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Townson; mother, Louise Henderson; father, Burl Weeks; sister, Frances Ledkins and brother, Robert Weeks.

Mrs. Townson is survived by her three daughters, Tammy Woods of Enterprise, Sherry Lambert and Diane (Artie) Godwin of Evergreen, Ala.; one brother, Bobby (Mary) Weeks of Saraland, Ala.; three sisters, Wanda (Johnny) Mosley of Andalusia, Ala., Glenda Godwin of Oak Grove, Fla. and Betty (Braxton) Thomley of Perdido, Ala.; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel with Rev. Angelo Thomley and Bro. Michael Hadley officiating. Burial will follow at Traveler’s Rest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday, January 4, 2020 from noon until service time at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Adam Bishop, Ryan Holt, Matthew Holt, Colton Lambert, Aaron Bishop, Jacob Bishop and Jonathon Bishop.

Collie Ray (Bo) Hughes

Mr. Collie Ray (Bo) Hughes, age 98, of Cantonment, Fla., passed away Saturday, January 4, 2020, at his home. He was born in Excel, Ala. to the late George Cobb Hughes and Lula Bell Powell Hughes. Despite only having a 6th grade education, he did very well for himself. He became a crane operator at Mobile Steel Company until he enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and served on the following ships: NTS Bainbridge, MD., USS Greiner (DE-37) and the USS Natoma Bay (CVE 62). When World War II officially ended, he was on a ship 300 miles from the Tokyo harbor. He was honorably discharged on February 10, 1946. He was employed for thirty years at St. Regis Paper Company in Cantonment, Fla. His favorite past time was traveling the roads spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of forty-one years, Mary Jean Murphy Hughes; one son, Derick Allen Hughes;; two sisters, Nettie Lou Lilley and Marguree Womack.

Mr. Hughes is survived by two sons, Robert (Anne) Hughes of Lottie, Ala. and  Marcus (Patty) Hughes of Cantonment; six grandchildren, Chris (Pam) Hughes of Palm Bay, Fla., Steve (Michelle) Hughes of Dania Beach, Fla.; Cindy (Rex) McKinley of Atmore, Ala.; Mary (Todd) Walker of Lucedale, Miss., Carey Hughes of Lottie and Carla (Jarrett) Crysell of Perdido, Ala.; eleven great-grandchildren, Chace (Claire) Godwin, Stephen Hughes, Gracie Godwin, Dylan Hughes, Cagan Crysell, Nicole Hughes, Laura Jane Hughes, Kimber Walker, Braden Crysell, Emma Walker, and Mia Hughes; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at noon at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Chapel with Bro. C. L. Langford and Bro. Chris Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery in Goodway, Ala. with military honors.

Active pallbearers will be Chris Hughes, Steve Hughes, Carey Hughes, Chance Godwin, Stephen Hughes, Dylan Hughes, Cagan Crysell and Braden Crysell.

The family will receive friends Monday, January 6, 2020 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Howard Dewitt McGhee, Jr.

Mr. Howard Dewitt McGhee, Jr., age 71. He was born in Atmore, Ala.to the late Howard Dewitt McGhee, Sr. and mother, Hattie Mae McGhee. He lived most of his life in the Clark and Escambia County, Ala. area. He was owner and operator of Dynamic Cleaning Company. He was a member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and Amity Baptist Church of Clark, County, Ala.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dan and Lena McGhee and Buck and Luna Mae McGhee; second wife, Nancy McGhee; sister, Becky Norman and son, Jim Day.

Mr. McGhee is survived by his wife of fourteen years, Lila Overton McGhee of Frisco City, Ala.; children, Lisa McGhee, Malcolm “Bull” McGhee, Michelle (Mark) White of Poarch, Ala., Joseph (J Ross) McGhee of Bay Minette, Ala., Jason (Kim) McGhee, Chad McGhee, John Dayand Angela Wall, Amanda Rolin and Jamie (Sabrina) McGhee, all of Whatley, Ala.; step-children, Jennifer Flowers, Wayne (Pam) Flowers, Jeremy (Leslie) Flowers, Jesse (Heather) Flowers and Cecil (Mary) Hoven; siblings, Gerry (Susie) McGhee, Mary (Dean) Boyte of Atmore, AL, Georgia Griffey, Gordon McGhee, William “Boone” (Kristie) McGhee, Cyndi (Tony) Wright, Juanita Slate and Lena (Joe) White, all of Poarch, Ala.; aunts, Marie Martin and Ellen Johnson; thirty-two grandchildren and seventeen-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at 11 a.m. at McCullough Christian Center with Bro. Joe White officiating. Burial will follow at Judson Cemetery.

The family received friends Monday, January 6, 2020 from 6 until service time at 11 a.m. at McCullough Christian Center.

Pallbearers will be Greg McGhee, Kenny Williams, Scott Griffey, Bo Slate, James White, Justin Norman, Chris McGhee and Rowdy Boyte.

Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Hammac, Rodney McGhee, Nathan Martin, John O’Barr, Jack Allen McGhee and Dynamic Cleaning Crew.

Robert John Bolcavitch, Jr. 

Robert John Bolcavitch, Jr. of Atmore, Ala. was born on August 9, 1928 in Eynon, Penn. and passed away Saturday, January 4, 2020 at his home after a brief illness.

He served in the United States Air Force during WWII and was a retired mechanical engineer. Mr. Bolcavitch was a member of Saint Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church. He will be remembered for his years of smoking great Boston Butts with others for the church Fall Festival.

He is survived by his wife Jerrie Jones Lambert of Atmore.

A private graveside service will be held for immediate family and friends at Oak Hill Cemetery on Wednesday, January 8, 2020.
