From the rousing “Another Opening, Another Show” from Kiss Me Kate, to the soulful sounds of “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother,” the Broadway and More concert at Gulf Shores United Methodist Church sanctuary will have great tunes for every music fan.
The concert is set for Sunday, September 29 at 7 p.m.
According to Cody Johnson, GSUMC Director of Worship Arts, the popular annual event by the church’s Chancel choir will feature highlights from Chicago, including “Razzle Dazzle” and “All That Jazz,” numbers from The Lion King such as “I Can’t Wait To Be King,” plus favorites from the Beach Boys, The Hollies and the Carpenters.
Soloists will include Barbara Shepard, Marsha Guyer, Mel Middlebrooks, Jimmy Warren, Amelia Fletcher and Cody Johnson with youth soloists Nora Malone, Ali Livingston, Anna O’Neal and others also on the program. Jackie Dahlman, GSUMC organist / accompanist will accompany the choir and singers, along with a live rhythm section with drums, bass and guitar.
There is no charge for admission, however, a love offering will be taken in support of GSUMC’s extensive music ministry. Reserved seating is available for concert season supporters.
