News Staff Report
The Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce presents a new event this Saturday – Evening in White.
According to the Chamber, “The dinner is inspired by Dinêr en Blanc, an event that is native to France. Dinêr en Blanc generally features a pop up picnic where attendees dress elaborately in all white attire. Evening in White mimics this event but with a southern twist. Atmore’s Evening in White features a dress code of primarily white, an announced location, more relaxed atmosphere, and the addition of phenomenal entertainment while continuing the ‘picnic style’ inspiration from Dinêr en Blanc.
“The dinner portion of the evening takes a cue from a familiar event to us all, as it is similar to First National Bank & Trust’s Celebrity Waiter event with the difference being the picnic style.”
Evening in White will be held Saturday, August 24, 7 p.m., at Rivercane Park. This is a rain or shine event. Should the weather require tenting, this will be provided.
Profits from the event will benefit the future Atmore Dog Park.
There are two ticket options available.
Hosted table
Anyone can be a table host! Table hosts are the point of contact for the Chamber and are responsible for seeing that their table is decorated, food is provided, and seats for said table are filled. This can be done as elaborately or simply as the hosts and their guests decide.
Table hosts can provide all aspects of the evening OR opt for a coordinator route, delegating aspects such as providing parts of the meal, beverages, decor, etc. to those who will be seated at their table. The choice is up to the table hosts.
There will be awards given for the best dressed male, female, and couple as well as best spread [food] and best table decor.
Community table
Community Table tickets are available as well. For those who want to attend but are not able to host a table or obtain a hosted table ticket, you’re invited to the community table.
Community table guests bring their picnic and dine with old and new friends alike at the community tables. The table is minimally decorated and all are welcome.
There will be awards given for the best dressed male, female, and couple as well as best [food] spread.
Entertainment will be by The Tip Tops, a high-energy dance and show band based out of Mobile. Their musical emphasis is 60s, Motown and rhythm & blues. Mix in some 50s and some 80s and you have three decades of musical history.
