The Escambia County High School Class of 1979 gathered for their 40th year reunion, June 7 – 9.
The Class of 1979 holds the record as the largest graduating class from Escambia County High School with 246.
Classmates traveled to Atmore from across the U.S. for the reunion events. From New York to south Florida, to Wisconsin and states nearby, the Class of ’79 gathered again on the school grounds. Friday evening a casual meet and greet reception was hosted at Escambia County High School. Several members of the faculty attended including former biology instructor Jane Nall and former athletic director and head football Coach Buck Powell.
Saturday evening the class gathered at Wind Creek Resort in the ballroom for an evening of fellowship and a delicious dinner. Various awards were presented including King and Queen Mr. and Mrs. Debra Clark.
Sunday morning a special memorial service was held in the school’s Hodnette Auditorium. Members of the class led the service.
