Alabama Department of Corrections officials reported Monday (June 17) that a Fountain Correctional Facility inmate was fatally stabbed by another inmate over the past weekend.
ALDOC reports show that on Saturday, June 15, at approximately 5:15 p.m., correctional officers found Jeremy Reshad Bailey, 29, inside a facility housing area. He had been stabbed and had reportedly lost a lot of blood when he was found.
Bailey, who was serving a seven-year sentence for a 2017 controlled substance distribution conviction in Jefferson County, was taken to an unidentified area hospital, where he later died.
Officials identified 31-year-old Jarvis Terrell Taylor as a suspect in the stabbing. Taylor, who is serving a 30-year sentence on a 2007 first-degree robbery conviction in Montgomery County, now also faces a murder charge.
ALDOC investigators were still working Monday to determine the circumstances leading up to the fatal incident and had released no further details by Tuesday’s press deadline.
