Poarch Creek Indians Environmental Department will conduct a household hazardous waste collection day this Saturday, April 27, from 8 a.m. until noon.
The event, open to all residents of Poarch and the surrounding area, is for household waste and electronics only. Large quantities of items from business, farms or other commercial operations will not be accepted.
Items may be brought to Poarch Creek Fire Station No. 1, 5811 Jack Springs Road, on the Poarch reservation. The tribe’s environmental department urges area citizens to utilize the opportunity to keep such materials and items out of waterways and the natural environment.
There is no charge for turning in items ranging from paint and auto batteries to computers, computer accessories and stereo equipment.
Several items are prohibited, including medications, compressed gas cylinders, ammunition and fire extinguishers.
