The newly reorganized Escambia County High School Blue Devils Touchdown Club will be hosting an area golf tournament on Saturday, March 2, at 9 a.m. at Atmore Country Club.
The tournament was organized as a means of raising funds for the ECHS football program. The funds raised from the event will help purchase much-needed football equipment, uniforms and weightlifting supplements.
The Touchdown Club is seeking hole sponsors for $100 a hole for the tournament, which will feature a three-person scramble with cash payouts. The entry fee is $135 per team, which includes lunch for the golfers.
“We are excited to bring back a football club that will help support the team this year,” ECHS head football coach Scott Mason said. “We want to get on a level playing field with the other schools that have money to throw into football and other sports programs, and this tournament will help us achieve that,”.
