Thelma Griffis Kyle

Mrs. Thelma Griffis Kyle, age 92, of Robinsonville, Ala., passed away February 6, 2019 in Atmore, Ala. She was born in Camden, Ala. to late Eddie Lawrence and Amanda Rebekah Dailey Griffis. She was a retired supervisor from Vanity Fair. She was a member of Robinsonville Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Theo Kyle; son, John Patrick Kyle; a brother, Alvin Griffis; sisters, Mary Lou Bailey, Izola James and Verna Mae Nall.

Mrs. Kyle is survived by two daughters, Janeen Kyle House of Robinsonville and Kathy Kyle Helton of Atmore; two grandchildren, David (Trish) Helton of Spanish Fort, Ala. and Rebekah Helton Bell of Helena, Ala.; three great-grandchildren, Kimberly Grace Bell, Kennedy Aiden Helton and Rowan Avery Helton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Phil Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Polar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tony Powell, Frankie Brandenburg, Ray Lowery, Charles Woods, Dean Smith and Anthony Stallworth.

Honorary pallbearer will be Scotty Woods.

The family will receive friends Saturday, February 9, 2019 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Berl Vance Kirby

Mr. Berl Vance Kirby, age 73, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2019 in Fairhope, Ala. He was a native and former resident of Roanoke, Ala. and had resided in Whitehouse Fork, Ala. for the past forty-six years. He was a member of the Whitehouse Fork Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Curt and Katie Kirby; wife, Evelyn Carol Kirby; three brothers and one sister.

Mr. Kirby is survived by his daughter, Wanda Ann Kirby of Whitehouse Fork; two sisters, Ann Gable and Jean Emmons, both of Roanoke and two grandchildren, Austin Kirby and Asia Kirby.

Graveside services will be held Friday, February 8, 2019 at 11 a.m.at Whitehouse Fork Community Cemetery with Rev. Charles Lewis officiating.

Henry M. Garrett

Mr. Henry M. Garrett, age 69, formerly of Philadelphia, Miss., passed away Monday, February 4, 2019 in Atmore, Ala. He was born in Birmingham, Ala. to William Cluster and Linnie Edna Coleman Garrett. He was a graduate of Hamilton Miss. High School and Mississippi State University. He was always proud to be a Bulldog and enjoyed keeping up with MSU football.

He was a talented musician, playing the guitar and singing for friends and family. He was also quite the fisherman in younger days and was looking forward to renewing this hobby following his retirement from the Poarch Creek Indian Resort as the Hospitality Control Coordinator.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Curt and Dwight Garrett.

Mr. Garrett is survived by his five children, Kenneth (Jennie) Garrett, Jill Garrett (Chris) Clark, Daniel Garrett, Anna Garrett (Jay) Jackson and Celeste Cowley Garrett; ten grandchildren; sisters, Georgia Garrett and Shelia Garrett; very special friends and caregivers, Scott and Nancy Floyd as well as several other special friends in Atmore.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Atmore, Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 2 p.m. for friends and family. A memorial service will also be held Saturday, February 23, 2019 2 p.m. at Center Hill Baptist Church in Hamilton, Miss.

Coleman Pylant

Rev. Coleman Pylant, age 87, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2019 in Bessemer, Ala. He was a native of Greenpond, Ala., former resident of Bessemer, Ala. and had resided in Atmore, Ala. since 1969. He past pastor and member of the Atmore Apostolic Church and member of the Apostolic Fellowship Ministry Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Myrtle Pylant; wife, Mae Lee Pylant; four brothers, Sterling Pylant, Clifton Pylant, James Pylant and Robert Pylant and two sisters, Frances Pylant and Robbie Pylant.

Mr. Pylant is survived by two brothers, Alvin Pylant of Bessemer and Melvin Pylant of Gee’s Bend, Ala.; three sisters, Helen and Clayton Clevenger of McCalla, Ala., Linda and Dale Lawrence of Hueytown, Ala. and Christy and Tony Wilson of McCalla, Ala.; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, his church family and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Atmore Apostolic Church with Rev. Tim James, Bro. Steve Ward, Rev. Jimmy Lee and Rev. Harlan Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Serenity Gardens Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, February 8, 2019 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Atmore Apostolic Church.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Baggett, Roger Miller, Aubrey Roberson, Nathan Holcome, David McNairn and Zack Miller.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Kimmon and Autrey Tucker.

Latiana Denean Deese

Ms. Latiana Denean Deese, age 49, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Friday, February 1, 2019 at Covenant Hospice at West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, Fla. A native of Atmore, she was a 1988 graduate of Escambia County High School where she was a member of the Marching Band Color Guard. In her leisure she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Saints with A Vision AF&M Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeraldine Deese and Cassie Lee Johnson, Jr.; her grandparents, Allen Deese, Cassie Lee Johnson, Sr., and Eunice Johnson, and other family members.

Ms. Deese is survived by her children, Kenneth (Kenesha) Richardson, II, Myesha Richardson, and Jonaya Richardson, all of Atmore; her husband, Kenneth Richardson, Sr. of Bay Minette, Ala.; her beloved puppy, Lola; her grandchildren, Jermel, Harmoni, Princeton, LaDarrion, JaMaya, Kuron, and her adopted grandson, Malachi; one great-granddaughter, Reign; her siblings, James (Erica) Deese of Birmingham, Ala., Travis (Theresa) Deese of College Park, Ga., Terrance (Amy) Deese of Albany, N.Y., Edmond  Deese, Nikita Deese, and Tracie Taylor, all of Atmore; her grandmother, Bessie Deese of Atmore; and a host of aunts, uncles, and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Saints with a Vision AF&M Church of God with Rev. Onesmus Henry, Jr., Pastor and Rev. Audrey America-McAroy, Eulogist. Interment followed in Stallworth Cemetery.

Jesse Robert Lett

    

Mr. Jesse (Pooman) Robert Lett, age 62, of Evergreen, Ala., passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019. He was in the U.S. Army after high school receiving many award. After the military he worked for the Conecuh County Board of Education as Bus Driver and during this time started his first company, Mini Cab.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Lucinda Floyd Lett; three brothers, George Bozeman, Sterling Wayne Lett and Elbert “Dick” Lett III; one sister, Myrtis Nolan Thomas and one niece, Patricia Bozeman.

Mr. Lett is survived by his wife, Patricia Lett; seven children, Patrick (Berline) Lett, Myrtis (Tobias) Thomas, Jessica Lett (Phyllis), Shada, Chantess, Rianna and Solomon (Patricia); two sisters, Antiss (Rickey) Lett, Johnnie Priscilla Lett; ten grandchildren, Heavanleigh, Kiara, Oletha, Patrice, Koriyana, Tony (Angela) Zachary (Cynthia), Richard (Mary) Venson, Gerald Lawrence and Justin; one niece, Melissa Bozeman and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 11, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Second Mt. Zion Baptist church in Evergreen with Rev. Jimmy Taylor, Pastor, officiating. Interment followed at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Evergreen.

Pallbearers were his son, nephews and grandchildren.

Flower bearers were his daughters and granddaughter.

Dariontae Travion Richardson

Mr. Dariontae Travion Richardson, age 16, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, February 4, 2019, in Birmingham, Ala. He attended Northview High School from 2015 – 2018 where he was a member of the football and basketball teams and a few clubs and organizations. He had a love for sports. He began his Christian experience at Gospel Temple No. 2 under the leadership of his grandfather, Pastor Raymond Redmond.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Willie Williams and his uncle, Antonio Richardson.

Mr. Richardson is survived by his parents, Torris and Erica Richardson; sister, Torian Richardson; grandparents, Raymond and Irma Redmond; grandmother, Mary Williams; two special cousins who were like brothers, Tre’Darius Redmond and Deshawn Brooks; aunt and uncle, Danny and Sabria Fountain; uncles, Terrance (Rebecca) Redmond and Demetrius Moorer, all of Walnut Hill, Fla., Andonjra (LaKeilla) Redmond of Pensacola, Fla., Don (Latina) Richardson of Atmore, Ala.; aunts, Latonia (Gordon) Brooks of Robinsonville, Ala. and Sandra (Cleve Bruce) Faulkner of Bay Minette, Ala.; special friends, Ben Wilson, Seth Killam, Trent Peebles and Jaden Jackson and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Grace Fellowship with Pastor Glen Weber, Pastor and Elder Irma Redmond, officiating. Interment followed at New Saint Paul Baptist Church Cemetery, Walnut Hill.

Pallbearers were family and friends.

Flower bearers were Class of 2020.

Mr. Wilfred Davison, age 52, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, February 11, 2019 at his home.
