Each year, Atmore Area Christian Care Ministry hosts a volunteer appreciation banquet to thank the folks who make the ministry possible.
This year’s event was held Thursday, October 25, at First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
The Rev. Monroe Tucker Jr., president of the AACCM board, opened with a word of welcome.
One of the highlights of the banquet each year is honoring the Volunteer of the Year, an award presented by AACCM Volunteer Coordinator Julia Strack. However, for this one time, the award was changed to Volunteers of the Year and was presented to Joe and Lauri Hall for their many hours of service. Joe is vice-president of the board and also works as food coordinator which includes a number of duties.
The Rev. Dr. Larry Patterson, First Baptist Church, offered a prayer and the blessing of the food.
The evening closed with words of encouragement and closing prayer by the Rev. Jim Thorpe, First Presbyterian Church, who talked about the loaves and fishes.
Twenty-five volunteers rotate days and serve Atmore Area Christian Care Ministry.
