Veterans Day is Sunday, November 11, and several events are planned around the day.
Perdido Elementary / Middle School
The school’s annual Veterans Day celebration will be held Friday, Nov. 9, 8:30 a.m., in the gym. This year’s program will feature special guest speaker Major Jamie Barnes, the Baldwin County High School JROTC Flag and Rifle Drill teams, Perdido Middle School Band, and former Perdido band student Bethany Presley.
All veterans and their immediate family members are invited to a reception following the program, in the cafeteria.
The dress is casual.
Atmore VFW Auxiliary
Veterans are invited to attend the Atmore VFW Auxiliary’s Annual Veterans Day Breakfast Saturday, Nov. 10, 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., at Anchor Café.
All veterans eat free, and complimentary gifts will be given to all veterans in attendance.
Flomaton Lions Club
Plan to attend the Veterans Day Celebration Saturday, Nov. 10, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Flomaton Community Center, sponsored by the Flomaton Lions Club.
The event will feature patriotic music by the Flomaton High School Band, corn hole, and a flag retiring ceremony by Boy Scout Troop 31.
Plates with hot dog, Cole slaw, baked beans, chips, and drink will be available for $5 ($2.50 under age 6).
Veterans eat free.
The public is invited to attend and thank the veterans for their service.
City of Atmore
Veterans Day is Nov. 11 but will be recognized Monday, Nov. 12. The Atmore City Council is scheduled to meet on that Monday, but since it’s a city holiday, the meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 4 p.m.
The city will host a Veterans Day program immediately following the council meeting.
