Georgia Earline Burkett

Mrs. Georgia Earline Burkett, age 81, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, October 22, 2018 at her home. She was born in Atmore to the late Grace and Stiner Weaver. She was a long-time member of Presley Street Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gary Burkett, of Alexander City, Ala.; three brothers, Cecil Weaver, Claude (Frances) Weaver and Clarence (Elizabeth) Weaver, all of Atmore; and a sister, Louise (Earl) Wilson, of Bay Minette.
Mrs. Burkett is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, James Burkett; a daughter, Gail Bell, both of Atmore; a sister, Alice (Richard) Walsh, of Pensacola, Fla.; a brother, Donald Ray (Peggy) Weaver; a grandson, Blake (Stephanie) Bell, two great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Colin Bell, all of Atmore; a daughter-in-law, Donna Burkett of Spanish Fort, Ala.; a sister-in-law, Connie Weaver, of Bay Minette, Ala. and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family received friends Wednesday, October 24, 2018 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home with the Rev. Joseph Simpson and the Rev. Dempsey Bell officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were James Bell, Mickey Parker, Wendell Wearren, Ken Tomas, Don Smith and Lonnie Turberville.

Myrtle Louise Peacock Gilmore

Mrs. Myrtle Louise Peacock Gilmore, age 105, passed away Monday, October 22, 2018.  She was born in the Dry Springs Community of Pineville, Fla. to Luman and Lena Hollingsworth Joiner. Myrtle was one of five children. During her working years she manned a fire tower; served as a plane spotter; owned New Deal Café in Flomaton, Ala as well as a small neighborhood store in Little Rock, Ala. As an elderly woman she provided rides to the church, meals for the sick and homebound and made regular nursing home visits. She has celebrated five living generations, and most recently six living generations with the birth of her first great-great- great-grandchild, Johnathan Curtis Marti. She served her church as treasurer, Sunday school teacher, prayer warrior and a faithful member. She reared six children, Barbara, Bonnie, Voncile, Bernell, Wayne, and Tyrone; step-daughter, Pat.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Conard Cleveland Peacock and her second husband, Fred Gilmore
Celebration of Life will be held Friday, October 26, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Johnson – Quimby Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Stickle officiating. Burial will follow at Little Rocky Creek Assembly of the Lord Jesus Christ Cemetery

The family will receive friends Friday, October 26, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby funeral Home.
