Gospel Light hosting book signing Sunday morning
Special to Atmore News
Sanford A. Shirk, a native of Atmore, will return to his hometown this weekend to participate in Williams Station Day on Saturday, and will be guest speaker at Gospel Light Church this Sunday morning, Oct. 28, at 10:30.
Shirk moved with his family at an early age and ended up in Stuart, Florida, where he became a deputy with the Martin County Sheriff’s Department. In time, he was selected as a crime scene investigator.
Shirk was selected to be a member of a special nationwide task force of CSIs just two months prior to the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Towers. He was immediately deployed to New York and was a part of the task force assembled to conduct the forensic work. He recently published his experiences in the book Then The Door Opened.
Shirk will sign copies of his book at Williams Station Day and again Sunday morning, 10:30 a.m., at Gospel Light Church. He will also have a special PowerPoint presentation of photos he captured, and the church will have lunch following the service.
Gospel Light Church is located at 337 N. Trammell Street, right by the water tower off North Main Street. WGYJ-LP is a radio ministry of Gospel Light Church.
