Workshop set for bereaved spouses

The holidays are not a joyous time for everyone, especially those who have lost a spouse. A free workshop will be offered this Friday that may help if you’re one of these people.
“Coping Skills for the Holidays” is a workshop that presents tested suggestions, which have proven helpful in making the holiday season more comfortable for surviving spouses.
The workshop will include lectures, media, workbooks and inspirational activities to help the bereaved understand their emotions, which may have overwhelmed them.
Attendees can plan a simple holiday that will avoid heavy stress. The participants will also develop a plan to share memories with family and friends that will not be filled with anxiety.
The workshop will take place Friday, October 19, 10:30 a.m. at the Atmore SAIL Center, 300 Ridgeley Street. There is no charge for the workshop, which is sponsored by the Widowed Persons Service (WPS) of Mobile, Baldwin and Escambia counties. WPS Program Director Mary Quinnelly of Mobile will conduct the workshop.
