Viola Elizabeth Lambert Conn

Ms. Viola Elizabeth Lambert Conn, age 74, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 in Mobile, Ala. She was a manager for Diamond Oil. She was born to the late Angus and Emma Presley Lambert.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jeff Whisenant; brother, Douglas Lambert and sisters: Gaynell Vaughn and Helen Burkett.
Ms. Conn is survived by two sons, Brandon Conn of Atmore and Jerame (Lydia) Conn of Poarch, Ala.; two daughters, Tammy Dotson of Atmore and Lisa (Carlos) Hernandez of Houston, Texas; three brothers, Donald (Judy) Lambert of Flomaton, John Earl Reed and James Reed, both of Texas; two sisters, Lagatha Lilly and Wanda (Carey) Vowels, all of Texas; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 2 p.m. from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Min. Matt Salter officiating. Interment followed in Serenity Gardens.

Florence Janette Martin Beck

Mrs. Florence Janette Martin Beck, age 77, of Atmore, Ala., passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018 in Pensacola, Fla. She was born in Poarch, Ala. and has resided in McCullough, Ala. for most of her life. She was a proud member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and attended Poarch Community Church.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Elsie Martin Holland; father, Willis McGhee; son, Randall Martin; grandson, Wayne Murphy Jr.; sisters, Velma Amos and Helen Price and brothers, Otha Martin and Levan Martin.

Mrs. Beck is survived by her husband of forty-eight years, Kenneth Beck of McCullough; son, Keith (Rochel) Martin of McCullough; daughter, Anita Martin (Wayne) Murphy of Pensacola; three sisters, Jean Ardis of Lottie, Ala., Mary Jane (Eddie) Tullis of Poarch and Nancy (Eddie) Lowrey of Atmore; six brothers, Douglas Martin and George (Sharon) McGhee, all of Atmore, JT Holland, Kent (Tracey) McGhee, Terry (Yvonne) McGhee and Danny McGhee, all of Poarch; eight grandchildren, Melinda Martin, Marcus Murphy, Joseph Murphy, Samantha (Jonathan) Rolin, Jessica (Cody) Black, Rachel Martin, Scarlet Martin and Dawsen Martin; thirteen great- grandchildren, Justin Martin, Alexis Monroe, Ella Murphy, Mackenzie Murphy, Colton Murphy, Hadlea Murphy, Jacob Murphy, Jackson Rolin, Lily Rolin, Jacen Rolin, Amelia Kate Black, Manning Black and Brantley Sharpless; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Pruitt and Bro. Joe White officiating. Burial followed at Judson Cemetery.

The family received friends Wednesday, October 3, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Cody Black, Jonathan Rolin, Marcus Murphy, Joseph Murphy, Justin Martin and Dawsen Martin.

Honorary pallbearers were Gravis Sells, Tony Sells, Kent McGhee, Terry McGhee, Eddie Tullis and Lamar Martin.

Thomas “Tom” George Greenwell, Sr.

Mr. Thomas “Tom” George Greenwell, Sr., age 83, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at his home in McDavid, Fla. He was a native of Bogia, Fla. and has resided in McDavid most of his life. He retired from Monsanto with thirty-nine and one half years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman. He was a member of the Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church.

Mr. Greenwell is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Dorothy Greenwell of McDavid; two sons, Thomas George (Sandra) Greenwell, Jr. of Molino, Fla. and Mark Andrew (Cindy) Greenwell of Bluff Springs, Fla.; one daughter, Beth (Ken) Hayes of Molino; one brother, Roger (Rhoda) Greenwell of Cantonment, Fla.; three sisters, Joyce Nelson of Cordell, Ga., Barbara Johnson of Bluff Springs and Sharon (Kenny) Rigby of Cantonment; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, October 5, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Nathan Brown officiating. Burial followed at Ray’s Chapel Cemetery.

The family received friends Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Timothy Greenwell, Daniel Greenwell, Josh Greenwell, Jeremy Greenwell, Dakota Smith and Jordan Lee.

Brendon Jackson

Master Brendon Jackson, age 13, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.

Alaysia Pierre-Louis 

Alaysia Pierre-Louis, age 19, of Brewton, Ala., passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Troy, Ala.

George E. Chavers              

Mr. George E. Chavers, age 82, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2018 at his home in Century, Fla. He was a native of McCullough, Ala. and has resided in Century most of his life. He was a 1953 graduate of Century High School; was a U.S. Army veteran, and member and deacon of Poplar Dell Baptist Church. He was a retired power house operator with Container with thirty-nine years of service and a life-long farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Nettie Bell Chavers; sister, Clara Creamer and brother, Clarence “Peanut” Chavers, Jr.

Mr. Chavers is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Doris Gandy Chavers of Century; four sons, Randy (Mary Ann) Chavers of Cantonment, Gregory (Sherry) Chavers of Crestview, Fla., Barry (Denise) Chavers of Century and Mary (Alicia) Chavers of Denver, Colo.; two brothers, Raymond Chavers of Molino, Fla. and John (Paula) Chavers of Pensacola, Fla.; one sister, Patricia Ann Redoskia of Flomaton, Ala.; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Poplar Dell Baptist Church with Rev. Mitch Herring and Rev. Robert Gandy officiating. Burial will follow at Poplar Dell Baptist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday, October 8, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Poplar Dell Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Robert Chavers, Jonathan Chavers, Ryan Chavers, Lucus Chavers, Ethan Chavers, Evan Chavers and Steven Chavers.

Honorary pallbearers will be church deacons and the men of his Sunday school class.

Mary Frances Qualls Alverson

Mrs. Mary Frances Qualls Alverson, age 85, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018. Being a military wife found her being transferred to various bases. When Mr. Alverson was sent to Korea, she and her child relocated to Uriah, Ala. She was an employee of Vanity Fair.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Alverson; parents, A.E. (Jack Qualls) and Stella (Greer) Qualls and a brother, Juby Qualls.

Mrs. Alverson is survived by her children, Joyce (Billy) Lambert and Charles (Lenny) Alverson, all of Atmore, Ala.; grandchildren, Dennis (Janet) Jarrell and Sherry (Terry) White, all of Atmore, David Jarrell of Atlanta, Ga., Michael Alverson and Jamie Alverson, both of Uriah and Ashley (Bryan) House of Excel, Ala.; sixteen great-grandchildren; special nieces and nephews, Cindy (John) Brown of Monroeville, Ala., Melissa Ezella of Daphne, Ala. and Joey Qualls of Mobile, Ala.; numerous, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Alaysia Raquel Pierre-Louis

Ms. Alaysia Raquel Pierre-Louis, age 19, of Brewton, Ala., passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018. She was born in Brewton, Ala. to Chadwick Pierre-Louise and La Granda Jackson. She was a 2017 graduate of T. R. Miller High School. She was presently attending Troy University in Troy, Ala. in her sophomore year.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Cheatmen, Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Hall, Sr.; great-grandfather, Mr. James Robert Jackson, Sr.

Alaysia is survived by her baby puppy, “MiMi”; father, Chadwick (April) Pierre-Louis of Montgomery, Ala.; mother, LaGranda (Kareen Brown-fiancé) Jackson of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; grandparents, Mauel (Hermine) Hall, Sr., Rufus (Jackie Thames, of Brewton; great-grandmother, Arine Jackson of Brewton; two brothers, Ja-Karius Jones of Montgomery and Chaz Pierre-Louis of Brewton; two sisters, Chance and Z-Ryah Pierre-Louis of Montgomery, Ala.; five aunts, Jeffery (Jamila) Russell, DeMarcus (Tashan) Streety, DeAngeo (Isha) Wesley, Monique Pierre-Louis; special aunt, Kendral (Lotoya) Williams of Brewton; five uncles, Emanuel Hall, Benny and Shamar Campbell, all of Brewton, Terrance Bowens of Pensacola, Fla., Michahel (Aubrina) Bowens of Flomaton, Ala; three special cousins, Angela Jackson and KeKe Taylor of Brewton and Tess Blackmon of Birmingham, Ala; a host of cousins, relatives, friends and special friends,

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Second St. Siloam Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Willie Blue, Pastor and Rev. Eric T. Andrews, officiant. Interment followed at Baptist Hill Cemetery, Brewton, Ala.

Pallbearers were her cousins.

Flower bearers was the Class of 2017 and friends.

Sam Savage

Mr. Sam Savage, age 85, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2018. He was born in Wilcox County, Ala. to the late John Savage and Pinky Stewart. He retired in California after working in the construction business and returned to Ala. He was a member of 2nd St. John Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and member of the Usher Board. His main hobby was fishing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, “Mrs. Ruth”; daughter, Jean Marie (David) Deeds; two sons, Sammy Lee Savage and Wiggins (Dorothy Grace) Washington, Jr.; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; five God-children, one devoted, Crista Robinson; a special and devoted friend, Carrie Mims and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 11 a.m. at 2nd St. John Missionary Baptist church with Rev. J. W. Daily, Pastor officiating. Interment followed in 2nd St. John Missionary Baptist Church.

Pallbearers were his nephews and friends.

Flower bearers were family and friends.
