Yoders to share Sierra Leone experiences

Raising funds for OB facilities there

Dr. Jon and Heleen Yoder

Special to Atmore News

Dr. Jon and Mrs. Heleen Yoder are currently serving a two-year term of service in Sierra Leone, West Africa, where Dr. Yoder is serving as a physician at the Mattru Hospital and Heleen is working with the psychosocial unit helping children at risk.
Maternal and infant mortality are high in Sierra Leone, especially in the district where they are working.
Currently there is a great need to upgrade the facilities of the OB ward at the hospital. Some of the funding has been covered, but their support team would like to raise the balance of the needed funds.
These funds would help repair the leaking roof, get the bathroom facilities operational, make the window screens mosquito-proof and replace mattresses and covers.
Dr. and Mrs. Yoder are currently in the Atmore area for a short visit and will be sharing about their experiences at Mennonite Christian Fellowship, 245 Tennant Drive, on Sunday evening, May 13, at 6:30 p.m. You are invited to attend this presentation.
There will be an opportunity for you to share in the hospital’s financial needs that evening.
