Welcome Center opens
Atmore’s Welcome Center held an open house Thursday, October 19. The center, located in the Peavy-Webb Building in Heritage Park, will be open Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and will be manned by Atmore Historical Society volunteers. The LA Bikers Toyz for Kidz auction was held Thursday, October 19. It was a great success (see related Letter to the Editor, page 4A). The auction is coordinated every year by PeeWee and Annie Powell and Jody Jeter. Proceeds from the auction will be used to provide Christmas gifts for a number of families. Godspell lead has Atmore ties
Monica Garcia, a junior at the University of West Georgia, was selected for the leading role of Jesus Christ in Godspell, a musical written by Stephen Schwartz. The musical is composed of various biblical parables which tells the story of Jesus according to the Gospel of Matthews and his crucifixion. Monica is a theatre major from Dacula, Georgia, and has appeared in Intimate Apparel and Spring Awakening at UWG. She…
Mason crowned rodeo queen
Leila Ann Mason, 11, was crowned the 2017-2018 Alabama Junior Rodeo Queen and will represent Atmore and the community with good horsemanship, sportsmanship and a Godly attitude. Leila currently competes in the Alabama Junior Rodeo in Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Goat Tying and Breakaway Roping. Leila is in the sixth grade at Ernest Ward Middle School. She’s the daughter of Morgan and Leilani Mason.
