Ribs on Ridgeley
Tickets are still available for Ribs on Ridgeley Thursday, October 12, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., on Ridgeley Street. The meal includes ribs, green beans, hash brown casserole, a roll, and homemade pie. Food is being prepared by South Alabama Vending, Escambia County High School Culinary Arts Department, and Myrna Monroe (pies).

Tickets, $40 each, are available at Atmore News, 128 S. Main Street.

Proceeds will go toward downtown revitalization.

Beekeeper class
Southwest Alabama Beekeepers Association is offering a Basic Beekeeper Class Saturday, October 14, with sign in at 7:30 a.m. and class at 8 a.m., Flomaton First Pentecostal Church on Palafox Street.

Pre-registration is required. Call Mike Weber, 850-627-6774, or register at J&M Bait Shop by the overpass in Flomaton. Registration is $25 (lunch included). Students are free.

Class schedule: Classroom training in the morning, field training in live hives after lunch (honeybee protective clothing recommended).

Women of Distinction annual walk
Women of Distinction’s Annual Cancer Awareness Walk – “A Walk to the Park” – is scheduled for Saturday, October 14.
Registration ($10 per walker): 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.; opening ceremony: 11:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.; walk begins: 12 p.m.; closing ceremony: After final lap at the park

The walk will begin at Atmore City Hall, go to MLK Avenue, and end at Houston Avery Park.

Cougar Pride color run
Escambia Academy is holding a Color Run Saturday, October 14, with check-in at 8 a.m., start time at 9 a.m., at the school, 268 Cowpen Creek Road. Registration is $25 prior to the event, $30 the day of the event.
