John “Ronny” Hoffman
Mr. John “Ronny” Hoffman, age 75, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017 in Spanish Fort, Ala. He was a native of Montgomery, Ala. and had resided in Atmore, Ala. for the past forty-five years. He was a member and past treasure at the Atmore Church of Christ. He taught his 1st year at Repton; Flomaton five years; Ernest Ward, Bratt and Northview for a total of thirty-three years. He coached at Flomaton, Repton and Ernest Ward. He was a graduate of Troy State and was an avid fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Sarah Hoffman and one sister, Joan Hoffman Fleshman.
Mr. Hoffman is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Charlotte Hoffman of Atmore; one son, Ron (Wendy) Hoffman of Spanish Fort; three daughters, Ronda Hoffman of Daphne, Ala., Michelle (Ted) Cox of Winfield, Ala. and Mel (Marc) Bass of Auburn, Ala.; three brothers, Larry Hoffman of Pike Road, Ala., Frances Hoffman and Allan Hoffman all of Highland Home, Ala.; one sister, Judy Best of Honoraville, Ala. and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 11, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Minister Bobby Boatwright officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family received friends Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Robert “RJ” Amerson, Sr.
Mr. Robert “RJ” Amerson, Sr., age 91, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017 in Bratt, Fla. He was a native and life-long resident of Bratt. He was a member of Bratt First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Peter Amerson and Lottie Wiggins Amerson; wife, Margaret Himerwright Amerson; two sons, Danny Amerson and Eddie Amerson; one daughter, Sandra Amerson Wilson; step-son, Jimmy Hibbits; one sister, Vera Louise Amerson Hardy; three brothers, Oliver Peter (Pete) Amerson, Wallace Jerald Amerson and Dewey Eugene Amerson; one grandson, Lance Dawe and one great-grandchild, Macey Amerson.
Mr. Amerson is survived by one son, RJ (Bobby) and Judy Amerson, Jr. of Bratt; two brothers, Leo Edward Amerson of Canoe, Ala. and James and Betty Amerson of Bratt; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 1l a.m. at Bratt First Baptist Church with Rev. Delbert Redditt officiating. Burial followed at Godwin Cemetery.

Dovie Woods Stanley
Mrs. Dovie Woods Stanley, age 84, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017, in Atmore, Ala. She was a native of Semirah Springs, Ala. and has resided in Atmore most of her life. She was a member of Brooks Memorial Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-four years, Cecil Stanley; parents, Sam and Louiza Woods.
Mrs. Stanley is survived by her three sons, Cecil Gary (Kaye Derrington) Stanley of Tampa, Fla., Greg (Wanda) Stanley of Stapleton, Ala. and Richard K. (Phyllis) Stanley of Brewton, Ala.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Shelia Diane Chapman
Mrs. Shelia Diane Chapman, age 57, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017 in Atmore, Ala. She was a native and life-long resident of Atmore. She was a loving grandmother, crafter and interior decorator.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Betty Ann and Leon Tolin and two brothers, Tony Scott and Ricky Tolin.
Mrs. Chapman is survived by her significant other, Arthur (Snake) Thrower; one daughter, Michell Odom and Ben Bridges of Lawton, Okla.; two sons, Tony and Ashley Chapman of Amarillo, Texas and Chris Chapman of Prattville, Ala.; two sisters, Sonja and Tim White of Atmore and Shirley and Ed Turner; eight-grandchildren, Savannah, Danika, Aree, Londyn, Nicole, Alyssa, Chris and Courtney; two great-grandchildren, Josh and Ezra and special friends of thirty-six years, Kathy Schlemmer and Tina Haggerty and a number of nieces and nephews.

Arthur Dailey, Sr.
Mr. Arthur Dailey, Sr., age 83, of Atmore, Ala., known by most as “Whorley” passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Century Health and Rehab Center. He was retired from Alabama Dry Dock and Ship Building where he worked as a chipper.
He enjoyed watching baseball, football, and basketball on TV. He enjoyed farming and could be seen riding his tractor as he helped people keep their land maintained. He attended school at Escambia County Training School.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Mae Parker Dailey; his parents, Van and Josephine Dailey, Sr., two sisters, Lucy Owens and Annie Mae; his brothers, Van Dailey, Jr., Dan Dailey, Sr., Michael Patrick Dailey, Otis Dailey, Robert Dailey, Frank Dailey, and Benjamin Dailey.
Mr. Dailey is survived by his daughter, Rosalyn (Rashad) Sharerf of Atlanta, Ga.; his son, Arthur (Mary) Dailey, Jr. of Gainesville, Fla.; three sisters, Iola Dailey Reeves and Celestine Dailey Wilson, both of Warren, Mich. and Lois Dailey Smith of Boston, Mass.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery. Public viewing will be held Monday, August 14, 2017 from 2 – 7 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home.

Peter “P.T.” Burrell
Mr. Peter “P.T.” Burrell, age 83, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Atmore Nursing Care Center. He was a native of Clarke County, Ala. and a longtime resident of Atmore where he worked in farming and pulpwood. He was a member of Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church in Nokomis Community and enjoyed fishing and playing the guitar.
He was preceded in death by his wife Willie Burrell; three sons, Perry, Rochester, and Peter, Jr.; his parents, Roosevelt and Martha Burrell and four brothers, Joe, David, Roosevelt, and Andrew.
Mr. Burrell is survived by a daughter, Lori Burrell Humphrey of Milwaukee, Wis.; two sons, Terry Burrell of Norcross, Ga. and Marion Burrell of Milwaukee; four sisters, Channie Roberts, Fannie Brown, Mary Curry, and Agnes Wilson all of Atmore and host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church – Nokomis with Rev. Dennis K. Stephens, Pastor, officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Shiloh Cemetery.

Frances “Louise” Lowery
Frances “Louise” Lowery, age 80, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Monday, August 7, 2017. She closed her eyes on earth and opened them in heaven. Mrs. Lowery loved her Lord Jesus, and her family. She was born in Jay and raised in Milton. She married James “Jim” Lowery, and together they raised six children, four girls and two boys. She was an active member of Pace Assembly of God Church for 46 years, until health problems prevented her from attending. She was a lunch room manager and retired from the Santa Rosa County School System. She loved making porcelain dolls. She was loved by everyone she met and will be missed on this earth, but we know heaven gained another angel. We love you Mom!
She is preceded in death by her parents, James Rufus and Connie Bell Johnson; her husband, Jim Lowery; a grandson, Terry Kelly; one great-grandchild; and her brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Lowery leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Patricia (Ray) Kelly, Debbie (Charles) Bray, Steve (Debbie) Lowery, Sandy (Gary) Brooks, Karen Lowery, and Mark (Paula) Lowery; nineteen grandchildren, Travis, Kathy, Tony, Randy, Regina, Jeremy, Troy, Justin, Kyle, Scoot, Tai, Tera, Trevor, Dedria, Dellany, Dannica, Ben, Sam and Brandon; thirty-four great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.

William Daniel Sands
Mr. William Daniel Sands, age 31, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017, in Wetumpka, Ala. He was a native of Chicago, Ill., former resident of Atmore, Ala. (where he spent most of his life) and has resided in Wetumpka for the past two and one-half years. He was in the US Navy, was an Auxiliary Mechanic on Nuclear Submarine, and served on USS Honolulu and USS Maine.
He was an employee at Wind Creek Casino in Montgomery, Ala. and an avid Alabama Football Fan.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Archie Dean Sands and Esther Sands Hirzel and brother-in-law, Heath Bakken.
Mr. Sands is survived by his parents, Brian and Kathy McGill of Atmore; wife, Cristain Sands of Wetumpka; one daughter, Aubrye Sands of Wetumpka; one brother, Matt McGill of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Sarah-Elizabeth McGill of Atmore; sisters-in-law, Stephanie (David) Virts of Jonesboro, Ark. and Melanie (Tory) Smith of Wentzville, Mo.; brother-in-law, Scott (Cherrie) Allen of Hannibal, Mo.; father and mother-in-law, Cecil and Judith Allen of Hannibal, Mo.; grandmother-in-law, Joyce Bowen of Hannibal and many nieces and nephews.

Robert Carl White
Mr. Robert Carl White, age 82, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017 in Bay Minette, Ala. He was a native of Perdido, Ala. and has resided in Dyas, Ala. for most of his life. He was a member of the Perdido 752 Masonic Lodge and retired from the Baldwin County Highway Department with thirty-two years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Hazel White; sisters, Minnie Lou Brinkman and Norma Bryars and brother, Hilburn White.
Mr. White is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Peggy White of Dyas; one son, Robert “Rusty” (Wendy) White of Dyas; two daughters, Romona Hadley and Brenda (James Russell) McPhearson, all of Dyas; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Margaret Jean Moulder Shepler
Mrs. Margaret Jean Moulder Shepler, age 83, of Opelika, Ala., passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017, in Opelika. She was born in Bowling Green, Ky. to the late Thomas Goldsmith Moulder and Virginia H. Butler Moulder. She was a graduate of Western Kentucky University and began her forty-three year teaching career soon after receiving her teaching degree. She retired from the Escambia County Florida School System and moved to Opelika, AL and became a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Phenix City, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years, Robert Donald Shepler and her sister, Jane Moulder.
Mrs. Shepler is survived by her daughter, Michelle Word and husband Bradley Word, Jr.; grandchildren, James Word and Margaret Word; several nieces, extended family and caring friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Rev. Grant Parker officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Marvin Beachy
Mr. Marvin Beachy, age 80, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017. He was born in Ohio, to the late Jonas and Amanda (Kramer) Beachy. He was a member of Mennonite Christian Fellowship.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Alvin Beachy, Joe Beachy, and Freeman Beachy.
Mr. Beachy is survived by his wife, Esther; four children, Deborah (Carl Martin), Faith (Jerry Gehman), all of Atmore, Tim (Eunice Dagen) of Silverdale, Wa. and Jewel (Darryl Mast) of Wagener, S.C.; fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers, Simon Beachy and Abe Beachy and one sister, Mabel Sommers.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 16, 2017, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Mennonite Christian Fellowship, 245 Tennant Drive, Atmore.

Mr. Fredrick D. “Ducci” Barnes, age 24, passed away Friday, July 28, 2017. He was a 2011 graduate of Baldwin County High School. He was employed at Keyport Warehousing as a fork life operator. He attended Trinity Chapel AME and New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe America Jr., William and Juanita Barnes.
Mr. Barnes is survived by his mother, Andrea America; father, Frederick (Hallanda) Barnes; son, Kylen Darrell Bryars Barnes; his fiancé, Kierra Bryars; grandparents, Wanda (Billy) McCall; two sisters, Nyteunka Barnes, Ta’Mya America; brother, Steven Cunningham; one step-sister, Amera Winkey; three step-brothers, Toriano Winkey, Antwan Winkey, Isa Winkey, all of Bay Minette, Ala.; six aunts, two of which were very devoted, Elaine Faye Barnes and Timekia America; three uncles, one devoted, Darryl D. Evans of Atlanta, Ga.; two devoted great-aunts, Elaine Evans and Charity (Granny) L. Means; devoted friend, Tyrone Swails and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Chapel AME Church with Rev. James Allen, Pastor and Rev. Jimmie L. Bennett, officiating. Burial followed at Mutual Aid Cemetery, Bay Minette.
