Got a truck that’s so ugly that it’s special? If so, Atmore Area YMCA’s second annual Ugly Truck Contest might be the place to prove just how special it is.
The contest pays $75 each to the Rat Rod and Street Legal trucks judged the ugliest in the competition, which will be held Saturday, July 22, from 4 to 7 p.m., on the grass behind the local Y’s 501 South Pensacola Avenue headquarters.
There is a $25 entry fee for each truck in the contest. The pre-registration period will end Thursday (July 20) at noon. Late registration will continue through 10 a.m. on the day of the contest, but will require a $40 late registration fee.
Contestants may have more than one entry, but a separate entry fee is required for each one. Contestants must be at least 18 years of age, must own each entry and must be able to drive the legally registered trucks off the property after the contest.
Owners must be present during sign-in, judging and awarding of prizes. Each must also show proof of ownership and a valid driver’s license. Additionally, all Street Legal entries must have a tag.
Admission is free, and 50-50 tickets for a Saturday drawing will be sold for $1 each. Vendor space is available for $25 (12×12 space, no power supplied).
For more information on the contest, those interested may call 251-368-9622 or stop by the Y.
