Doris (Dot) Woods
Mrs. Doris (Dot) Woods, age 84, passed away Monday, May 8, 2017 in Fairhope, Ala. She was a life-long resident of Atmore, Ala. She worked as a seamstress at Vanity Fair for many years before she started sewing for the public. She made everything from children’s clothes to wedding dresses for both of her daughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Woods; parents, Charlie Tyson and Sadie Miller; three brothers, Jack Tyson, Thomas (PeeWee) Tyson and Joe Miller; one sister, Louise King.
Mrs. Woods is survived by one son, Charles Woods (Carolyn) of Atmore; two daughters, Vicky Kornegay (Darryl) of Eufaula, Ala. and Lisa Milliken (Larry) of Atmore; one brother, Murray Tyson (Libby) of South Haven, Miss.; six grandchildren, Sharlie Terry (Ross), Scotty Woods (Tosha), Hunter Milliken (Hannah), Andrew Kornegay (Sarah), Haley Kornegay and Sara Milliken; four great-grandchildren, Ava Woods, Tyson Milliken, Levi Milliken and Chase Milliken.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home. Burial followed at Semirah Springs Cemetery.
The family received friends Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Andrew Kornegay, Scotty Woods, Hunter Milliken, Darryl Kornegay, Larry Milliken and Ross Terry.
Honorary pallbearers were her Sunday school class at Robinsonville Baptist Church.

Christopher Adam Black
Mr. Christopher Adam Black, age 44, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017 in Rabun, Ala. He was a native and life-long resident of Rabun. He was a member of the Rabun Volunteer Fire Department and Lighthouse Tabernacle Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wilmer Eugene Black; grandmother, Iva Paul and aunt, Melba Maxwell.
Mr. Black is survived by his mother and step-father, Lois and E.J. Hebert of Rabun; two brothers, Jeff Black and Wade Black, both of Rabun and one half-brother, Phillip Black of Louisiana.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Lighthouse Tabernacle Church of God with Rev. Randall Short, Rev. Malcolm Harrelson and Rev. Thursa Long officiating. Burial followed at Paul Cemetery.
The family received friends Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 6 p.m. until service time at 10 a.m. at Lighthouse Tabernacle Church of God.
Pallbearers were Wendell Hall, Aubrey Paul, Norris Hall, Cody Nall, Michael Stump and Willie Hall.

Mr. Sylvester “LB” Benjamin, age 87, of Little River, Ala., passed away Friday, May 12, 2017 at Enterprise Health and Rehabilitation Center in Enterprise.

Mr. Sam Payne, age 54, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Atmore Community Hospital.
Public viewing was held at Christian Memorial Funeral Chapel Friday, May 19, 2017 from 2 until 6 p.m.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Church.

William “Peter Rabbit” Smith, Jr.
Mr. William “Peter Rabbit” Smith, Jr., of Bay Minette, Ala., passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 in Bay Minette. He was a native of Tensaw, Ala. and a long-time resident of Plainfield, N.J. and had recently relocated to Bay Minette.
He attended Douglasville High School in Bay Minette. He was a retired fire inspector. He loved being a DJ and was known as “Star Child” and enjoyed football and was a Pittsburgh Steelers’ fan.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ty’Shawn Smith; his parents, William, Sr. and Annie Smith; and a sister, Eliza French.
Mr. Smith is survived by three daughters, Vivian Stoudemire of Molino, Fla., Annie Bercant of Detroit, Mich, and Jacquline Broughton of Latham, Ala.; five sons, Gerald Bryant of Memphis, Tenn., Anthony (Yolanda) Smith of Houston, Texas, Phillip Bellamy and Da’Shawn Smith, both of Plainfield and Deon Brown of Baltimore, Md.; ten sisters, Lula Evans and Dorothy Smith, both of Pensacola, Fla., Annie Mae (Jessie) Lawson, Mary Smith, Catherine (Randall) Benjamin, Essie (Willie Charles) Johnson and Linda (Adam) French, all of Atmore; Lorraine (Sammie) Walker and Christina Jones of Los Angeles, Calif. and Joyce Stallworth of Eight Mile, Ala.; three brothers, William (Michelle) Smith of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Alfred Smith of Spanish Fort, Ala. and Curtis Smith of Plainfield; host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and devoted companion, Tonja Naves of Bay Minette, Ala.
Funeral service was held Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. at Empowerment Tabernacle Christian Center with Overseer Darryl North, Pastor, officiating. Interment followed in Fairview Cemetery.
Public viewing was held Friday, May 19, 2017 from 2 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home. His body did lie in-state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
