The Alabama Cooperative Extension System is holding a seminar on recreational pond management later this month. The subject matter will vary from water quality and fertilization to stocking and vegetation management considerations.
The seminar will be held Tuesday, March 21, 6 p.m., at the Extension building, 175 Ag-Science Drive, Suite D, Brewton.
Please note: There is no cost to attend the seminar but registration is required. To register, please contact the Extension office at 251-867-7760.
Seminar goals are to help attendees gain a better understanding of stocking strategies, water quality management, fertilization, weed control, how and where to send in weed / water samples for analysis. There will be time to ask questions about specific ponds.
Those attending are invited to bring a weed and/or water sample from a pond for identification. Water samples should be brought in a plastic bottle with lid. No glass. A 20-ounce bottle is the best size.
