Levonda G. Jones
Mrs. Levonda G. Jones, age 48, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017 in Atmore, Ala. She was a native of Pensacola, Fla., former resident of Bay Minette, Ala. and had resided in Atmore, Ala. for the past three years.
She was preceded in death by her father, Michele Gabriel and grandparents, Sam and Gladys McCaw.
Mrs. Jones is survived by mother, Myrdle Gabriel of Bay Minette; husband, Tony Jones of Atmore; two sons, Mason Jones and Dawson Jones both of Atmore; one daughter, Jessica (T.J.) Jones of Atmore; one sister, Jamie (Greg) Roberts of Bay Minette and four grandchildren, Kylin, Jazlin, Tra and Adylin.
Graveside services were held Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery.
The family received friends Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 10 a.m. until noon at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were A.J. Gardner, T.J. White, J.T. Davis, Shawn Cooper, Henry Wiggins and Mason Jones.
Honorary pallbearers were Dawson Jones, Kylin Jones and Tra White.

Eddie Wayne Boggs
Mr. Eddie Wayne Boggs, age 70 of Walnut Hill, Fla., passed away Thursday, January 12, 2017 at his residence. He was born to the late Frank and Gladys Boggs in Phoenix, Ariz. He was a farmer most of his life and also worked in maintenance in the medical field.
He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings.
Mr. Boggs is survived by his wife, Corine Thomas Boggs of Walnut Hill; one son, Donald Jackson of Walnut Hill; five daughters, Susan (Craig) Dockery and Sarah (Marti) Pearson, all of Hartselle, Ala.; Clara Boggs of Walnut Hill, Carrie Ellingsworth and Gail Ellingsworth, both of Oregon; one brother, Sam Boggs of Arizona; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Saturday, January 14, 2017 at noon from Pine Barren Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Alan Thompson officiating.
Active pallbearers were Craig Dockery, Matthew Boggs, Joshua Muse, Joseph Muse, P.J. Thomas and Barry Montgomery.

Susan Elaine Cooke Brown
Mrs. Susan Elaine Cooke Brown, age 62, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2017 in Pensacola, Fla. She was a native of Springfield, Mass. and a resident of Atmore, Ala. for most of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Wayne Brown; parents, Harvey and Louise Cooke and grandmother, Minnie Presnall.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her faithful companion of twenty-nine years, Pat Conn of Atmore; two sons, Chris (Sandy) Brown of Oak Grove, Fla. and Clint (Liana Lambeth) Brown of Atmore; one daughter, Shelley Brown (Don) Presley of Perdido, Ala.; one brother, Richard “Ricky” Cooke of Baton Rouge, La.; three sisters, Sherry Hartley of Sparta, Tenn., Debra Harrison of Mobile, Ala. and Cindy Fornby of Walnut Hill; nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 15, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. John Hamon officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family received friends Sunday, January 15, 2017 from 12:30 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Clint Brown, Daniel Lambeth, Tyler Presley, Dale Brown, Dawson Brown and Keaton Brown.

Kocy Fountain of Walnut Hill, Fla. passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Pensacola, Fla.
The family received friends Friday, January 20, 2017 from 3 until 7 p.m. at Christian Memorial Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Empowerment Christian Center.

Edna Miles Wilson McLoyd
Mrs. Edna Miles Wilson McLoyd, age 84, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017. She was born in Jackson, Ala. to the late Rev. Edward Miles Wilson and Patricia Kimbrough Wilson. She was a 1953 graduate of Escambia County Training School as salutatorian. She graduated Cum Laude from Alabama A & M University in Huntsville, Ala. with a Bachelor’s Degree of Science. She also studied at Alabama State University, Tuskegee University, University of Kentucky, Troy State University and Wallace Community College. She taught at the Escambia County Training School, Carver High School, Dothan, Ala., Girard Junior High School, and Northview High School. She was the first African American to teach advanced placement English in Dothan City School. She was dedicated to nurturing and strengthening the missions of the AME Church and others religious institutions.
Mrs. McLoyd is survived by four children, Lisa Mullins Brown of Columbus, Ga., Lieutenant Col. (Retired) Wallace (Manya) McLoyd, Jr. of Lawton, Okla., Willinda McLoyd Richardson of Warrensville, Ohio and Dr. Vonnie C. McLoyd of Ann Arber, Mich.; five grandchildren, Thomas Brown, Wallace B. McLoyd, Mercedes Tillman, Shelton Richardson, Jr. and Cecilia McLoyd; five great-grandchildren, Camari Brown, Derrell Sims, Lauren Brown, Destine Rodgers and Shelton Richardson; one sister, Edwina (Alberto) Rodriquez; one brother, Eddie Miles Wilson; four siblings, Cornelius Wilson, Viola Adams, Robert Wilson and Dr. Harold Wilson and one granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 14, 2017 and 12:30 p.m. at Gaines Chapel AME Church with Rev. Amos Smith officiating. Burial followed in Stallworth Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Theopolis Hollis, Chester Lyons, Ulysses McBride, Alberto Rodriquez, Eddie Wilson, and Rufus Wingate.
Flower bearers were the Order of the Easter Star, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and Women’s Missionary Society.
