The January concert schedule at Gulf Shores United Methodist Church is filled with great artists and memorable tunes for area listeners of all ages. The 2017 concert series continues in the GSUMC south campus auditorium at 2:30 Sunday afternoon, January 15 with Shane Tucker, the ever-popular Gulf Coast Elvis presenting an Elvis Inspirational Show featuring many of Elvis’ gospel and inspirational songs. Shane will be joined by pianist Cody Johnson along with the Promised Land Band as he performs in a casual atmosphere. Tickets are $15 per person.
The third annual Cody and Friends show on Friday 7 p.m., January 20, in the church sanctuary will feature Cody Johnson, Director of Worship Arts at GSUMC, as well as talented youth performers, contemporary Christian singing group “Remaining Nameless,” teen-age singing group “Vanora,” and members of the GSUMC praise team. An array of special musical guests will include keyboardist Kenny Rev from Foley, singer-songwriter Jimmy Warren of Gulf Shores, and percussionist Ralph Pereda from Daphne. It will be a night of singing, piano, guitar music all in a wide assortment of musical styles.
Proceeds of the show support the work of the GSUMC United Methodist Men.

Returning for their second year in the concert series, Ruth and Max Bloomquist will showcase their performing and song writing talents in the south campus auditorium on Tuesday, January 24 at 7 p m. Hailing from the state of Michigan, their signature song, “Michigan Girl” has become an Internet sensation, achieving over 300,000 views on YouTube this year. Ruth has a booming alto voice, drawing comparisons to Kathy Mattea, Anne Murray and Linda Ronstadt.
Tickets for the Bloomquist show are $10 per person with reserved seating for 2017 concert series sponsors.
The popular Three-on-a-String group returns for two performances, Saturday January 28, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, January 29, at 2:30 p.m., in the GSUMC sanctuary.
This combo consisting of Jerry Ryan, Bobby Horton and Brad Ryan has an amazing mix of styles, from big band, to country, to classical with some bluegrass in between. With Jerry’s comedic timing, Brad’s songwriting and performing skills and Bobby’s musical versatility, each concert becomes an entertaining, educational and interactive experience.
This year’s performance will feature several gospel numbers from their latest CD. Tickets for each concert are $10 per person. Seating is reserved for 2017 concert series sponsors.
Rounding out January is another Elvis concert by Foley artist Shane Tucker, Elvis Remembered on Monday, January 30, at 7 p.m., in the GSUMC auditorium.
This rocking show will feature two full sets of music including many of Elvis’ early gospel and inspirational songs as well as hits from his later years.
Shane will be joined by pianist Cody Johnson as well as the Promised Land
Band. Tickets are $15 per person.
