More than 50 families in this area will have a Merrier Christmas, thanks to LA Bikers.
For months, organizers Pee Wee and Annie Powell and Jody Jeter have been identifying children and families who could use a little help from Santa this year.
They’ve been buying and collecting toys and bikes especially for each child on the list.
The 16th annual ride, with dozens of bikers, was held Saturday, December 10, leaving from David’s Catfish and making stops in Bratt and Flomaton and ending at Atmore City Hall.
Tom Tschida rode with Atmore Police Chief Chuck Brooks in the lead vehicle and took pictures at each stop. Kids are so excited with their presents. In some cases, big burly bikers carrying small bikes, some with pink ribbons. Children hugging Santa … and hugging Santa … and hugging Santa. Tom said, at times, the scenes were so emotional, he had to walk away.
After the toys were given out, Santa and some friends went to Atmore Community Hospital with poinsettias and stuffed animals for the patients. Then it was on to Atmore Nursing Center with gifts for the residents.
