2 injured, 1 detained after Tuesday pickups collision (UPDATED)
  Two people were loaded into ambulances on gurneys; a third was loaded into a police car in handcuffs, after an early morning, March 23, collision between two pickups. Afternoon fire damages S. Presley St. home
A Wednesday afternoon (March 21) structure fire caused moderate fire damage and heavy smoke damage to a South Presley Street home. City firefighters were sent to the residence, about a block north of Escambia County High School, shortly before 2 p.m. AFD Capt. Daniel Love said at the scene that the blaze was contained to the back room of the house, and that it was “electrical in nature.”
Jay resident arrested for 2017 ATV theft, weapons charge
A Jay Florida man, accused of stealing an all-terrain vehicle from Escambia County hunting camp in November, was arrested March 13 and is charged with the theft. March 24 benefit for Searcy
A benefit for Atmore resident Jerry Searcy will be held Saturday, March 24, at Boatyard Landing, near Stockton. It will begin at noon and continue throughout the day. Searcy, who is married to the former Jean Coleman, is battling colon cancer and faces six months of chemotherapy.
