EA falls in state hoops title game
The Escambia Academy basketball squad’s dream of an AISA Class AA state championship ended Monday (February 5) in Montgomery, when top-ranked Macon East won its second straight title with a 67-42 decision over the foul-plagued Cougars. Fouls restricted the aggressiveness of All-Tournament Team selection Neikel Robinson, who fouled out, and MJ Jones, who picked up four infractions before the fourth period began, and the Cougars could never get on track.…
A win at the buzzer
Escambia Academy hosted the New Year Classic Basketball Tournament December 29 and 30. EA won over Walton High School (Florida) 80-79 when EA’s Fred Flavors made a buzzer-beater 3-point basket. 5 EA players in All-Star game

Five talented players from Escambia Academy were selected to play in the game. Fountain named headmaster at EA; Heigle resigns
Officials of Escambia Academy have issued the following statement regarding the school’s administration:   “The Board of Directors of Escambia Academy has announced that Assistant Headmaster Hugh Fountain has been elevated to the position of Headmaster.   “Former Headmaster Wade Heigle resigned his post as headmaster, effective immediately.” For more details on the story, read Wednesday’s Atmore News. 
EA wins state!
By PAOLO GORME News Staff Writer For the second time in school history, the Escambia Academy football team brought home a state championship trophy to Canoe, winning the game 30-20. Last Friday’s game, November 17, in Troy University’s Veterans Memorial Stadium, was only the fourth time EA has played a state championship game and they have all been under Head Coach Hugh Fountain.
