Shady playground
Atmore Rotary Club, using a series of grants from several sources, recently installed a shade structure above the playground adjacent to the Atmore Community Splash Pad, just off Craig and Trammell streets. The 1,500-square-foot shade will allow children to use the playground equipment with less exposure to the sun and will prevent the equipment from becoming too hot to use. Elaine and Kenny Rodgers had a busy couple of days last Friday and Saturday as they held fund-raisers to help with Kenny’s medical expenses. They sold Boston butts Friday and – with help from their friends – had a big event at the American Legion building with barbecue sandwich plates, live music, and a silent auction.
