Crews from Pitts Dozier Service in Brewton began last week demolishing the remains of First Presbyterian Church of Atmore (FPC). The local house of worship was effectively destroyed March 15 when lightning struck it, igniting a blaze that required more than 40 firefighters from seven area agencies to bring it under control. ALEA warns of nationwide ‘DMV’ phishing scam
Special to Atmore News Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) officials are warning citizens about a nationwide phishing scam that has recently targeted Alabamians with fraudulent text messages that falsely claim to be from the “Alabama Department of Vehicles (DMV)” and demanding payment for non-existent traffic tickets.These messages threaten to suspend individuals’ driving privileges for 30 days and suspend vehicle registrations unless recipients click a malicious link or provide personal information.State…
