EA athletes honored
Three top athletes were honored at Escambia Academy’s sports banquet Monday evening, May 8. The awards they received were named in memory of two EA athletes who passed away at a young age – Dana Kent and Lance Dawe. ECMS students earn Six Flags tickets
Students at Escambia County Middle School recently participated in a reading program sponsored by Six Flags Theme Parks. The program encourages students in kindergarten through sixth grade to read for fun. At ECMS, every fifth- and sixth-grade student who completed six hours of recreational reading and returned their reading log was presented a free admission ticket to Six Flags over Georgia.
Disabled vet to receive companion dog
A United State Marine Corps veteran who lost both legs in a motorcycle accident in September 2015 will get a special companion this Saturday, May 13. Beth Wiggins, who attends Unity Baptist Church, will be presented with the canine companion, a service dog named Berlin, during a ceremony to be held at 11 a.m. at the church, located on U.S. 31 in Atmore.
