Buitron receives ECHS Hall of Fame award
Escambia County High School teacher Stephanie Buitron is the first recipient of the school’s Hall of Fame award for demonstrating PRIDE (Prepared, Respectful, Involved, Disciplined, Excellence), Principal LaTonya Gill’s mantra for everyone at the school. Buitron’s overall score of 45.9 points out of 50 possible points earned her this recognition in the areas of Attendance, Collaboration, Strategic Planning, Student Progress, and Classroom Management.
Observing Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
Children and staff with Atmore First Baptist Preschool observed Childhood Cancer Awareness with a balloon release Monday, September 30. Cancer survivor Anna Lois Mercer was invited to attend and be honored but unfortunately could not attend. FBC pastor Dr. Kevin Garrett prayed for young victims of cancer, for God’s blessings on them. On Wednesday, September 18, the Area Agency on Aging hosted Grandparents Appreciation Day at the Poarch Creek Indians Senior Center.
