Opening day for the Poarch Band of Creek Indians 2019 wee-ball season was last Wednesday, March 20. The wee-ball league is made up of five teams of young, growing players who are in the early stages of learning the game of baseball. Firefighter Dee Guy sprays water on the engine compartment of a 1984 Subaru that caught fire last Wednesday, March 20, along East Sunset Drive in Atmore. AFD reports show that the driver told firemen he was driving the car when it “started smoking real bad.” When he pulled over, flames erupted and spread quickly through the vehicle, which was a total loss.
