David Dewayne Barnett

Mr. David Dewayne Barnett, age 58, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Sunday July 15,
2018 in Atmore. He was born in Atmore to the Kenneth and Nancy
Jones Barnett. He was a pharmacist with Walmart. He was a graduate of Auburn
University. He attended Grace Fellowship.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Barnett.
Mr. Barnett is survived by his wife, Denean Everette Barnett; his mother, Nancy Barnett;
a daughter, Carson Barnett; a brother, Mike Barnett; a sister, Kim (Ron)
Tatum, all of Atmore.
Graveside services were held Friday, July 20, 2018 at 10 a.m. from Oak Hill Cemetery.  Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Kenneth “Kenny” Peterson

Mr. Kenneth “Kenny” Peterson, age 60, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in Jay, Fla. He was a native and life-long resident of Bogia, Fla. He was a former employee at IGA and Piggly Wiggly in Century, Fla. and worked at Bradley Masonry Company in Pensacola, Fla.  as a masonry. He was a member of the Christian Home Freewill Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walker and Genie Peterson and two brothers.

Mr. Peterson is survived by his four daughters, Wendy Armstrong of Michigan, Casey Rice of Century, April White of Bratt, Fla. and Katie Jones of Tennessee; two brothers, Malcolm Peterson of Georgia and Terrell Peterson of Jay, Fla.; four sisters, Shirley Ingram, Glenda Kelley, both of Bogia, Martha McCann and Edna Darby, both of McDavid, Fla. and seven grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Joseph Frank “Joe” Bush

Mr. Joseph Frank “Joe” Bush, age 56, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018 in Jay, Fla. He was a native of Laurel, Miss. and has resided in Flomaton, Ala. since 1972. He was a member of the Flomaton First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, R.C. and Phyllis Bush and one brother, Ronnie Bush.

Mr. Bush is survived by two brothers, Terry (Kathy) Bush of Flomaton and Jessie “Micky” (Janice) Bush of Robertsdale, Ala. and a number of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Barrow officiating. Burial followed at Godwin Cemetery.

The family received friends Saturday, July 21, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. until service time at 11:30 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Jeremy Bush, Tad Bush, Brad Adkinson, Dak Sims, Ronald Tullis and Jimmy Knowles.

James Allen Young   

Mr. James Allen Young, age 65, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018. He was born to Kelly and Ione Young. He served in the U. S. Navy aboard the USS Saratoga. During his life, he had the honor of serving the Lord in many different areas of ministry, but his greatest passion was telling people about salvation through Jesus Christ. His favorite verse was Joshua 24:15 and his favorite hymn was “Victory in Jesus” and his most cherished item in all of the world was his old well-worn King James Bible from which he would frequently read and quote. Before his home-going to heaven, James had read through this precious treasure 66 times.

Mr. Young is survived by his wife, Alice Charline Young; children, Charline Denise Young, Rebekah Young (Brian) Shivers and Jamie Young (Phillip) Blackwell; grandchildren, Bethany Shivers (Jeremy) Ealum, Rachel Faith (Kelton) Wooten, Sarah Elisabeth Blackwell, Aimie Katherine Blackwell and Phillip David Blackwell; great-grandson, Elliott Benjamin Ealum. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Donnie Harvey and Bro. Phillip Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow at Canoe Freewill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday, July 23, 2018 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Young, Harold Vaughn, Chip Barbas, Jeremy Ealum, Kelton Wooten and Ronnie Lehmann.

Honorary pallbearers will shipmates, Ray Burglund, Bill Vanbeaver, Mike Sweitzer, Robie Robinson, Paul Sanders and Richard Donohue.

William Herbert “Bill” Hendrix, Sr.  

Mr. William Herbert “Bill” Hendrix, Sr., 91, of Atmore, Ala., passed away Friday, July 20, 2018, in Atmore. He was born in Goodway, Ala. to the late Herbert Henry and Zelma English Hendrix. He was a graduate of Marion Military Institute and served in the United States Army. He was a longtime member and Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Atmore. He was active in many of Atmore’s civic organizations and youth athletic programs for many years.  He was one of the founders of Escambia Academy in Canoe, AL. He served on the Board of Directors of First National Bank & Trust, serving many years as Chairman. He also served as a trustee of Judson College in Marion, Ala.  He owned and operated Hendrix Tractor Company, Inc.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Zelma Hendrix and two brothers, Jack Hendrix and Harold Hendrix.

Mr. Hendrix is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years, Dorothy “Dot” Hendrix of Atmore; his son, Bert (Sandra) Hendrix of Mobile, Ala., his daughter, Sheri (Jack) Darby and his son, Robert (Melanie) Hendrix, all of Atmore; grandchildren Elisabeth (Heath) Ward, Hayley (Zac) Palm, Will Hendrix, Jana Hendrix and Deeya (Silas) Seamans; great-grandchildren, Hendrix Ward, Mary-Grace Ward, Anna Kate Palm, Lee Palm, Darby Locke, and Dillon Seamans.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 22, 2018, at 4 p.m. from First Baptist Church of Atmore with Dr. Larry Patterson and Bert Hendrix officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Will Hendrix, Heath Ward, Zac Palm, Jack Hendrix, George Watkins, Thomas Guy, Michael Williamson, and Steve Jernigan.

The family received friends Sunday, July 22, 2018, from 2 until 4 p.m. from First Baptist Church of Atmore.

The family requests donations be made to The Patterson Chapel Renovation Fund at First Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.

Darrell “Bubba” Ardis, Jr.

Mr. Darrell “Bubba” Ardis, Jr., age 46, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018 at his home in Lottie, Ala. He was a native of Atmore, Ala. and has resided in Lottie most of his life. He was a member of the Lottie Road Kustoms and an avid race fan. He was a member of St Anna’s Episcopal Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Darrell Ardis; grandfather, Ewing Ardis; grandmother, Cassie Ardis; grandmother, Elsie Holland and one brother, Alvin Scott.
Mr. Ardis is survived by his mother, Jean Ardis of Lottie; wife of fourteen years, Glenda Ardis of Lottie; two sons, Dustin (Brittany) Lindsey of Bay Minette, Ala. and Justin McKinley of Lottie; one daughter, Dallas Lindsey (Josh) Downey of Poarch, Ala.; two brothers, Thomas (Joanie) Ardis and Douglas Mitchell, both of Lottie; three sisters, Felecia Ardis (Gary) Overstreet of Thomasville, Ala., Regina Ardis (Charlie) Brown of Bay Minette, Ala. and Elizabeth Mitchell (Andrew) Daughtry of Atmore; one grandchild, Clayton Downey; many special nieces and nephews; father-in-law, James Burkett of Atmore and mother-in-law, Susan McCord (Barry) of Atmore.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Father Mike Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Lottie New Home Cemetery.

Sandra Jean Emmons

Mrs. Sandra Jean Emmons, age 60, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018 in Bay Minette, Ala. She was a native of Nanticoke, Penn. and has resided in Bay Minette for most of her life. She liked oil painting and drawing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Joe Emmons, Sr., father and step-mother, Merle and Patricia Ann Zeigler, mother, Martha Mae Richardson and two brothers, David Zeigler and Oran Zeigler.
Mrs. Emmons is survived by her step-father, Wayne Richardson of Milton, Fla.; two sons, Bobby Joe (Michelle) Jr. of Bay Minette and Ernie Lee (Lisa) Hall of Canoe, Ala.; two brothers, Bill (Linda) Zeigler of Georgia and Joe Zeigler of Pennsylvania; three sisters, Tammy (Randy) Parkman and Linda Enzer, both of Mississippi and Sue Ann Boyd of Canton, Penn.; four grandchildren, Bobby Emmons III, Cody Dylan Emmons, Jonathan Byrd Garrett and Sandra Inez Hall.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Moyeville Cemetery.

Boyd Sigafoose, Sr.

Mr. J. Boyd Sigafoose, Sr., age 78, of Bratt, Fla., passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018
in Pensacola, Fla. He was a dairy farmer. He was born to the late Arnold Bert and Ruth Johnson Sigafoose. He was a Member of the Walnut Hill Mennonite Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Joe Sigafoose; a brother, Shelby Sigafoose; a granddaughter, Shelby Sigafoose and a great-grandchild, Heidi Eck.
Mr. Sigafoose is survived is wife, Judith Eck Sigafoose of Bratt, Fla.; three sons: J. Boyd (Beverly) Sigafoose, Jr of Ottawa, Kans., James Sigafoose and Carter Sigafoose, both of Bratt; five daughters, Carol (Dale) Wenger of Lobelville, Tenn., Emily (Robert) Peaster of Idaho, Miranda Parker of St. Petersburg, FL., Alana (Destiney) Sigafoose, Haven Shores, all of Bratt; two sisters, Brooxene (Maynard) Koehn and Latayne (Harold ) Eck of Davisville, FL.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 10 a.m. from Walnut Hill
Mennonite Church with Bro. Mike Koehn, Bro. Brian Decker and Bro. Wilbert
Peters officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Eric Koehn, Tom Sigafoose, Silas Eck, Josh Peaster,
Chuck Glick, Galen Harms, Curtis Davison and Darryl Ensz.
