Mississippi authorities lodged adult charges against a 15-year-old Atmore girl who used a social media ruse to lure a Gulfport man to a St. Martin motel room, where he was robbed by two of the adolescent’s adult accomplices.
An employee of the Jackson County (Miss.) Sheriff’s Office booking and release division reported Monday that Quinecia Shanice Perryman of Atmore and three adults arrested with her remained in the Jackson County Adult Detention Center, each charged with one count of armed robbery.
According to a news release that was posted online February 16 by Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell, Perryman was charged and housed as an adult “because of the nature of the crime.” Also arrested were two Mobile men — 24-year-old Damion Pierre Maddox and his 25-year-old brother, Darius Michael Maddox Jr., and a Mobile woman, Shavona Cierra Tunstall, 27.
According to sheriff’s reports, Perryman misrepresented or lied about her age in the electronic correspondences she shared with the victim. She apparently convinced him the two should meet in a room at the Red Roof Inn, just off I-10 in the community of about 7,000 residents, on Valentine’s Day evening.
Reports show that things turned ugly shortly after the couple hooked up face-to-face, and deputies were sent to the motel at about 3:30 a.m. on February 15 after a man called to report that he had been robbed by — and had fought with — two gun-wielding assailants who took his money.
“(Deputies) found a man from Gulfport who says two men robbed him of money inside the room, and (that) they began fighting,” Ezell said. “The victim told deputies he was hit in the head and escaped the attackers by running down the stairs to the front desk, where he called for help.”
The Mississippi man told deputies he went to the motel to meet a woman he met on social media. Once he was in the woman’s room, he said, someone knocked on the door and the woman let in the two men he says robbed and attacked him.
When deputies got inside the room, they found the 15-year-old, the Maddox brothers and Tunstall, whose role in the robbery was not explained in the release. All four were reportedly arrested without incident.
