The Atmore Lions Club met February 19, at the Mayson Auditorium in Atmore Community Hospital. President Lion Joyce Petty opened the meeting and led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Lion Kevin Garrett gave the prayer and blessing.
Following lunch, Lion Joyce gave out current information about the OWA diabetes walk on March 8 where Atmore Lions will be handing out refreshments to the walkers. Information was relayed about the state convention in Montgomery April 24-27, and the golf tournament on March 27 at the Atmore Country Club. Get well cards were signed by members present for two Lions who have recently had surgery. Plans were finalized for the District 34C Lions convention to be held in Atmore February 22 at Encore.
Lion Joyce introduced JR Renkenberger who is the Lions Zone Chair for the area which includes Atmore. He related that the job of a zone chair was to be a link between healthy chapters and a vibrant district. He complimented Atmore Lions on the projects they undertake and meeting the goal of new members.
Lion Gregg Akins was presented with a pin by Atmore Lions President Joyce Petty for recruiting two new members, one of which will be inducted at the district meeting as part of the program.
