The Alabama Board of Pardons & Paroles denied parole during recent hearings for a Century, Fla. woman convicted in Escambia County Circuit Court of drug possession.
Lynda Michelle Adkins was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over by Atmore police after the driver failed to maintain his lane while driving along Alabama 21. The driver wasn’t arrested, but Adkins, who police said was “holding her purse tightly against her body,” was.
She reportedly gave consent to a search of the purse, and police found a prescription bottle containing methamphetamine, Lortab and Xanax.
Adkins was sentenced to 60 months (5 years) on two counts of possession of a controlled substance, with the second to be served concurrently.
According to Alabama Department of Corrections records, the inmate — housed at Julia Tutwiler Prison for Women Annex — has served slightly more than seven months. She has also been given credit for 33 days in jail and 416 days of “pre time served” while awaiting sentencing.
Adkins will be eligible for release on October 21, 2025.
