About 30 marchers, all but one of them female, paid $10 each to take part in the 20th annual Women of Distinction (WOD) Cancer Walk, held last Saturday, October 12. The group followed Atmore Police Department Officer Tommy America from Atmore City Hall to Houston Avery Park under clear, blue skies and moderate temperatures. The walk is held to raise money for the purchase of gas cards for cancer victims who travel to receive treatment. The annual event began in 2004.
