Atmore’s Women of Distinction (WOD) group will hold its annual Cancer Walk this Saturday, October 12. The event, previously held closer to Williams Station Day, is now held on the second Saturday in October each year.
Registration for the walk, which requires $10 from each participant, will begin at 9 a.m. at Atmore City Hall, with the walk scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
Proceeds from the registration fee are used to purchase gas cards for local cancer patients who have to travel to receive treatment.
This year’s route has not been announced, but the walkers, including several men who annually show their support for WOD, usually end up at Houston Avery Park, where a brief program is held.
