A 21-year-old Century, Fla. woman suffered minor injuries early Friday, October 4, when a Halloween decoration lying in the U.S. 29 roadway caused her to swerve around it, lose control of her vehicle and collide with a stand of trees.
“The driver swerved to avoid large decorative skeleton legs which fell out of a vehicle and into the roadway,” a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) trooper explained.
According to reports, the unidentified woman (accident victims’ names are not listed on FHP reports) was traveling southward on 29, near its junction with Success Drive, when the vehicle in front of her suddenly “swerved to avoid debris in the roadway.”
The Century woman also swerved in an attempt to prevent a collision with the vehicle in front of her. She lost control of her sedan and crossed both U.S. 29’s northbound lanes before the vehicle’s front bumper collided with some trees on the highway’s right shoulder.
Reports show the woman was taken to Pensacola’s Sacred Heart Hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.
