A Cantonment, Fla. woman, sentenced in 2014 to life in prison with the possibility of parole after her conviction in Escambia County Circuit Court on a drug trafficking charge, was granted parole during recent hearings by the Alabama Board of Pardons & Paroles.
According to Alabama Department of Corrections records, Debbie Tonita Purifoy was convicted of trafficking between 28 grams and 500 grams of cocaine. She was arrested by Alabama State Troopers in September 2012.
Purifoy, who spent more than 10 years behind bars, was freed from Julia Tutwiler Prison for Women.
