Atmore police have charged a juvenile with attempted murder in connection to a shooting that took place last Friday, June 14, in the city’s northwestern quadrant.
The victim, who suffered a single gunshot wound that was labeled “non-life threatening,” is also a juvenile.
According to reports, patrol officers were sent to the 300 block of Everette Street around 5:35 p.m. after emergency dispatchers relayed reports that shots had been fired at that location.
Officers learned as they rushed to the scene that “a juvenile had been shot and was taken to [Atmore Community Hospital] by private vehicle.” The teen shooting victim was reportedly treated by the local hospital’s emergency staff and has since been released.
Police said the juvenile suspect was arrested “without incident” June 15, a day after the incident, in Baldwin County.
Authorities have not released the names or ages of either juvenile, although the name and age of the suspect will become a public record if the district attorney’s office decides to charge him as an adult.
