Atmore man charged after meth, kratom, fentanyl found at license check

An Atmore man remained in the Escambia County Detention Center (ECDC) this week, arrested June 10 at a license checkpoint when he was found to be in possession of at least three illicit substances, one of which he tried to discard before lawmen found it.
Atmore Police Department reports show that city officers took 56-year-old Fred Carlton Ward into custody around 9 p.m. at the Ewing Lane location where APD narcotics officers and patrol officers were assisting Alabama State Troopers at the license checkpoint.
The lawmen discovered that not only was Ward’s license suspended, but he was also the subject of outstanding arrest warrants in Baldwin County. As the situation unfolded, it was discovered that Ward had possession of “several grams” of a crystal-like substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, along with more than 40 grams of kratom, a gram of fentanyl and several plastic baggies.
The suspect was also seen attempting to discard a plastic baggie that contained a portion of the narcotics, leading to an additional charge.
Ward is being held on three counts of possession of a controlled substance (meth, kratom, fentanyl), along with one count each of tampering with evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia. He remained in the county jail Sunday afternoon, June 16.

Donald Ray Barnhill
A 62-year-old Atmore man was arrested June 10 on a felony drug possession charge.
No details were provided, but the jail site shows that Donald Ray Barnhill is charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance (unspecified). Jail records do not indicate which agency arrested him.

Samuel Lee Bostic
Robert Jackson Jaye
Jail records show that two Atmore men, one of whom lives in the Poarch community, were arrested on felony drug possession charges after separate traffic stops made a day apart by Alabama State Troopers.
Samuel Lee Bostic, 48, of Poarch, was pulled over by troopers June 10 and processed into the ECDC on a charge of possession of a controlled substance (unspecified).
No further details were provided.
Bostic remained in the county jail Sunday afternoon, June 16.
Troopers lodged the same charge June 11 against Robert Jackson Jaye, 25, of Atmore after finding him in possession of an unspecified quantity of an undisclosed controlled substance.
Jaye, who is also charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance, was released from jail June 12 on bond.
Adam Shane Countryman
According to the ECDC website, a Monroe County man was booked into the facility June 10 after his arrest by Poarch Creek Indians police for felony drug possession.
No details of the arrest were available, but jail records show that tribal police took Adam Shane Countryman, 41, of Frisco City, into custody during the early afternoon hours.
Countryman is charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance (unspecified). He was still listed on the jail’s inmate roster Sunday, June 16.
Dagmar Rice
Tribal police also arrested a Baldwin County woman June 14 for allegedly breaking into a vehicle.
No details of the arrest were provided, but jail records show that Dagmar Rice, 54, of Gulf Shores is being held on one count of breaking and entering a vehicle.
According to Alabama Criminal Code, a person commits the crime when he or she “without the consent of the owner, breaks into and enters a vehicle or any part of a vehicle with the intent to commit any felony or theft.”
Rice was released on bond from the county jail on Friday, June 14.
