Earnestine Brantley

Mrs. Earnestine Caraway Brantley, age 85, passed away Monday, June 10, 2024. She was born in Atmore, Ala. and lived most of her life in Flomaton, Ala. and the last 10 years in Wedowee, Ala. with her daughter and three and one-half years of those years in Clay County Nursing Home in Ashland, Ala.
She worked and retired from Vanity Fair. She enjoyed doing puzzles, listening to Elvis and watching TV. Her favorite shows were Dancing with the Stars, Texas Ranger and other oldie shows. She loved her cats. She enjoyed spending time with her children and her grand kids and all of her family as much as she could, and cooking great food. We could not have asked for a better mom, she was the best, taught us great work ethics, and a lot about life and loved us immensely, and the same for her grand kids. She adored them and they adored her. We all have so many great memories of our life with her. Very treasured memories.

She was preceded in death by Charles Brantley; parents, Sam and Maureen Caraway; son, Charles Randy Brantley; three sisters, Rebie Blanton, Dorothy (Bootsie) Henderson and Maureen Searcy; three brothers, Dale Caraway, Carlton Caraway, Edward Caraway.

Mrs. Brantley is survived by her daughters, Jackie (Bobby) Aron of Wedowee, and Debbie Ardoin of Washington, La.; two brothers, Bob Caraway and Jimmy (Shona) Caraway; four grandchildren, Shawn Odom, Scotty Odom, Alex Hopkins and Lanie Hopkins Cole; two great-grandchildren, Brenden Odom and Ella Odom

Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. Burial will follow at McCullough Community Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday, June 15, 2024 from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel funeral Homes, LLC.

Pallbearers will be Cecil Caraway, Chris Black, Cody Odom, Austin Odom, Marcepassed llus Pickering and Nikki Odom.

Billy Wayne Branum

Branum

Mr. Billy Wayne Branum, age 84, of Mobile, Ala., former longtime resident of Atmore, Ala. passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2024.  He was born in Greenville, Ala. to the late Ralph Edward and Doris Griffin Branum.  He served in the Army and returned to Atmore. He was a machinist by trade and an owner of Bell’s Auto Supply until his retirement in 2004.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Atmore and served in various leadership roles in the church over the years.  He loved all sports, and he never missed a single game, swim meet, or any other event of his daughter, Bonnie’s.   He was an outdoorsman; in his younger years he enjoyed fishing and hunting, and in his later years, he parlayed that love into watching and feeding the deer in his yard and gardening.  He proved to be quite the gardener, too – no one grew a finer tomato than he.  He was also a master in the kitchen; he was known far and wide for his Christmas-time ginger snaps.  Perhaps his favorite role in life — and one that he excelled at and cherished — was being Papa to his granddaughter, Olivia. He will always be remembered as a devoted family member and friend who showed up in times of need.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Ernest Boggan; his wife of fifty-three years, Judy Vickery Branum and his brother, Donald Edward Branum.  

Mr. Branum is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Branum Minopoli; son-in-law Nicholas Minopoli; ; granddaughter, Olivia of Mobile; sister, Jewel Hadley of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; numerous other nieces, nephews and family members.

The family will receive friends Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Atmore.  

Funeral services will immediately follow at 2 p.m.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church of Atmore or Pilots for Christ.

Troy Houston Daughtry

Mr. Troy Houston Daughtry, age 50, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024 in Pensacola, Fla. He was a member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and resided most of his life in Pensacola. He enjoyed gaming and comics; loved the Superheroes and was an avid collector of them. He enjoyed traveling and going to amusement parks. He was a great brother, uncle and an awesome caretaker for his mother.
He was preceded in death by his father, Houston Daughtry and mother, Glenda Smith Guidy.
Mr. Daughtry is survived by two brothers. Andrew (Elizabeth) Daughtry of Atmore, Ala. and Jacob Lolley of Miss.; numerous aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Rev. Trevor Daughtry officiating.
Burial will follow at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens, 1985 W. 9 Mile Rd. Pensacola, FL. 32534.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 18 2024 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC.
Pallbearers will be John O’Barr, Bubba O’Barr, Daniel McGhee, Robbie McGhee, Tadd Huskey and Jacob Lolley.

Stephen Breyden Freeman
Mr. Stephen Breyden Freeman, age 21, of Davisville, Fla. passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024. He was born in Pensacola, Fla. to Steve Freeman and Monica Freeman. He was a 2021 graduate of Northview High School and worked at P&R Mining.  He was selfless and always was thinking of others. As an Organ Donor he was able to save five lives.  He enjoyed music, time with family and friends and playing with his son, Sawyer.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Marshall Lassitter and his uncle, Jack Lassitter.

Mr. Freeman is survived by his father, Steve Freeman; his mother, Monica Lassiter Freeman; grandparents, Bobby and Patricia Powell Freeman and Theresa Cleveland; his son, Sawyer Freeman, and his special friend and Sawyer’s mother, Jasmine Bryant; brother and mentor, Kolten (Chasity) Reid; brothers, Trent (Jessica) Freeman, Brannon (Grayson) Freeman, Chasen (Hannah) Freeman; special aunt, Tennelle Horning and his aunt Kathy (Hub) Wilson; Uncle, Brandon Lassitter; nieces and nephews, Leighton Freeman, Knox Freeman, Parker Freeman, Miles Freeman, Keelan McGhee, Niyah McGhee; cousins, Paeton, Preston, Kaylee, Lane, Cole, Camden, Piper, Aubree, Alex, Aaron, Tyler, Lacey, Marissa, Harrison and Grayson.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Johnson – Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Michael Roley officiating.  Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be, Cody Edwards, Kolten Reid, Preston Milstead, Keelan McGhee, Trent Freeman, Brannon Freeman, Chasen Freeman, and Jacob Findley.

Nettie Pearl Martin

Mrs. Nettie Pearl Martin, age 86, of Atmore, Ala. passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024. She was born in Moyeville, Ala. to Drew Thomas Moye and Catherine Roberson Moye.  She was the owner of Pearl’s Drive-In Restaurant in Atmore.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard Ray Martin; great- grandchild, Harlyn Merrill and her siblings.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her sons, Andy Martin of Atmore and Randy Martin (Kimberly) of Canoe, Ala.; grandchildren, Megan Martin, Rebecca Merrill and Melissa Pitman; great-grandchildren, Dylan Pitman and Gavin Merrill; and a host of family and friends.

Graveside services were held Monday, June 17, 2024 Home at 11:30 a.m. at Moyeville Baptist Church Cemetery in Moyeville with Bro. Joe Gibson officiating.  

The family received friends Monday, June 17, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. until 11 am at Johnson-Quimby Funeral in Atmore.

Pallbearers were Robert Pitman, David Merrill, Billy Rolin, Jimmy Boatwright, Kenden Chafin, Tim Schurr and Freddie Lambeth.

Agnes Christine Odom

Mrs. Agnes Christine Odom, age 79, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2024, at her home in Flomaton, Ala. She was a member of Sardis Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting, along with being an avid Atlanta Braves fan, watching Olive Baptist Church on TV was something she greatly enjoyed. She loved traveling to the Smoky Mountain with her husband and spending time with her family and friends. She was an excellent cook and owner of A&R Fireworks in Daphne, Ala.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Wesley (Laura Viola Childress) Johnson; one sister, Lois Kennedy; great-grandson, Austin Munro and great-granddaughter, Blanca Alana Burgess.

Mrs. Odom is survived by her loving husband of fifty-nine years, Roy Odom of Flomaton; two sons, Greg (Suzy) Odom and Keith (Charlene) Odom, all of Flomaton; one brother, Sammy (Linda) Johnson of Flomaton; four sisters, Jean Donnelly of Robertsdale, Ala., Ruby Ward of Hendersonville, Tenn., Eulene Enfinger and Diane (Danny) Killam, both of Flomaton; sixteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 17, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Rev. Doug Odom and Rev. Glenn Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Sardis Cemetery.
The family received friends Monday, June 17, 2024 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m.

Pallbearers were Chase Odom, Chris Munro, Vince Johnson, Wade Hammond, William Odom and Jeremy Pridgen.

Honorary pallbearers were Lance Bethea, Crews Odom, Nathan Daniel and Wendall Adams.

Cynthia Diane Martin

Mrs. Cynthia Diane Martin, age 71, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024, in Brewton, Ala. She resided most of her life in Flomaton. Ala. before moving to Brewton. She was a member of Century Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, collecting antiques and watching a good western. She enjoyed planting flowers and loved the water.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Kilby (Edna Earl Allen) Bell,

Mrs. Martin is survived by her loving husband of fifty years, Robert Martin of Brewton; two sons, Robert Joshua (Jessica) Martin, of Pollard, Ala. and Jeremy Luvern Merchant, of Flomaton; two brothers, Brian Keith Bell of Jay, Fla. and  James Randolph Bell of Flomaton; fifteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Kenneth Marvin White

Mr. Kenneth Marvin White, age 78, passed away, Thursday, June 13, 2024 in Pensacola, Fla. He was a native of Atmore, Ala. and resident of Flomaton, Ala. for the past thirty-sixty years. He was a member of Bethel Church. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed watching Swamp People and Andy Griffith. His favorite thing to do was spending time with family and friends especially when the family could get together and eat. He was also a very skilled carpenter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Marvin (Jesse Bell Buck) White; wife, Ruby White; wife, Dottie Mae White; three brothers, Bobby Glenn White, Gordon Riley White and William Edward “Billy” White; daughter-in-law, Shirley White.
Mr. White is survived by his two sons, Wade (Toni) White, of Uriah, Ala. and Jason White, of Flomaton, Ala.; two brothers, George Larry White, of Huxford, Ala., Wesley Lamar White of Atmore: two sisters, Glenda Yvonne Lord, Atmore, Shelia Diane White (David) Moye of Andalusia, Ala.; four grandchildren, Alicyn Nicole White, Kenneth Caleb White, Elizabeth Ann White, Landon Jason White other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Friday, June 21, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Bro. Joel White officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Brenda Stewart Spence

Mrs. Brenda Stewart Spence, age 83, passed away peacefully in Pensacola, Fla. on June 17, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.   She was a native of Phillipsville, Ala. and a resident of Pineville Fla. for the past sixty-seven years.  She loved her family and would do anything for them.  She spent many years as a preschool teacher sharing her love with others.  She loved to cook especially to make cakes, pies and divinity candy. She also spend countless hours doing word search books. Most of all she taught her children and grandchildren to be strong.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years and eleven months, Alton Spence; parents, Frank Johnson and Mattie Bell Downey Stewart; six sisters, Christine Heathcock, Frances Hadley, Dorothy Goodson, Evelyn Goins, Jeannette Fickling and Annette McCullough; six brothers, Frank Stewart Jr., Edward Stewart, Everette Stewart, Ivan Stewart, Winston Stewart, and Calvin Stewart; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Spence is survived by her children, Howard Spence of Walnut Hill, Fla. and Connie (Wendell) Harden of Harvest, Ala.; grandchildren, Jessica Ingram and Hunter Spence, both of Walnut Hill, Gunnar Harden of Portland, Ore., Fisher Spence and Savannah Spence, both of Atmore Ala.;  numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Graveside Services will be held at Pineville Community Cemetery Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 3 p.m. with Sister Helen Stewart officiating.
