News Staff Report
Alabama will hold its 18th annual severe weather preparedness sales tax holiday this weekend, beginning Friday, February 23, at 12:01 a.m. and ending Sunday, February 25, at midnight.
The annual event, held on the last weekend of February each year, gives shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain severe weather preparedness items free of state sales tax.
Local sales taxes could still apply, as a list of participating municipalities and counties does not include whether any of the four cities in Escambia County with sales taxes — Atmore, Brewton, East Brewton and Flomaton — will observe the holiday, although each usually does.
The list does include that Escambia County will waive its sales taxes during the weekend.
