Three people convicted of being accessories after the fact to the 2018 murder of one man and attempted murder of another at a Walnut Hill residence have been sentenced to stiff prison sentences and have begun serving them.
Court documents and published reports show that Christopher James Logan Stacey of Atmore, Jessica Nicole Thomas, in whose home the murder and attempted murder took place, and Alexis Ileene Shiffner-Cain of Milton were each sentenced and transferred into the custody of Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) officials.
Christopher James Logan Stacey is the son of 47-year-old Christopher Alan Stacey of Atmore, who fatally shot Dalton Davis and seriously wounded Troy Dewayne Boutwell and was sentenced in December to life in prison, plus 30 years. Thomas is the ex-wife of the elder Stacey, who is currently housed at Graceville Correctional Facility.
Davis was found dead in the bed of a truck that had been driven into Brushy Creek on Deere Creek Road, just outside Atmore. Boutwell, who was left for dead, was able to climb from the truck bed and notify authorities of the shootings.
Christopher James Logan Stacey of Atmore, now 29, was transferred into FDOC custody on January 31. He will spend 40 years in prison, less credit for the almost-four-and-a-half years (1,612 days) he spent in the Escambia County Jail while awaiting trial.
Thomas, who was transferred to the Florida Women’s Reception Area facility in Ocala on January 28, was sentenced to 30 years in prison. She is now 41 years old.
Shiffner-Cain, a Milton resident at the time of the shootings, is now 32. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison, to be followed by five years of probation. She was turned over to state prison officials on January 28.
Efforts to identify the facilities to which the younger Stacey and Shiffner-Cain were sent were unsuccessful.
