Atmore Mayor Jim Staff asks residents to help city workers maintain the drainage system by keeping grass clippings off the street and limbs out of ditches.
“When folks are mowing their grass, they need to keep their clippings in the yard, not throw them into the street as they mow,” Staff said. “Clippings go right into the city drainage. It’s the same with small limbs and sticks in the gutters and ditches.
“Atmore is flat, so it’s hard enough to maintain a drainage system. With additional rain, the problem is compounded with clippings and limbs. If we all do our part, we can be part of the solution.”
