Anyone who arrived more than a minute after 4 p.m. missed most of Monday’s Atmore City Council meeting.
Mayor Pro Tem Shawn Lassiter (District 4) was out of town on business and unable to attend the meeting, but he didn’t miss much.
The mayor and the four council members in attendance neither discussed nor voted on any business item during the meeting, which lasted barely 3 minutes from invocation to adjournment.
After the three councilmen and one councilwoman approved the minutes of their June 27 meeting and payment of monthly bills the meeting was closed.
“That’s all I’ve got,” Mayor Jim Staff said.
District 3’s Eunice Johnson announced before the session ended that a tentative date has been set for the second annual Fun Day — a presentation of city police and firemen, the county sheriff’s office and unspecified “others.”
Plans call for the event, an end-of-summer blowout for youngsters who live in and around the Patterson Street area, to take place Saturday, August 27, at the vacant lot across from Patterson Street Apartments. It will start at 10 a.m.
The next scheduled council meeting is set for 4 p.m. Monday, July 25.
