An Atmore man, one of two brothers sought by authorities in the February burglary of a local residence and the armed robbery of the man who lives there, is now behind bars.
According to Atmore Police Department reports, investigation into the burglary-armed robbery occurred around 7:30 p.m., February 19, when the victim came to police headquarters to file a report.
The victim identified the suspects as Thomas Earl Lord, 34, and his brother, 26-year-old Dustin Tyler Lord. He said they “pointed a gun at him and chased him in the yard before tackling him and threatening him with a handgun.”
Reports show the victim was able to get to his feet, but the Lord brothers chased him into his residence, then “struck him several times with the handgun while also kicking and punching him.”
The bandits took the man’s cash and other, unidentified, property while he was on the floor with minor injuries.
The investigator assigned to the case was unable to locate the suspects for several days but signed warrants on each of them.
Thomas Lord already had outstanding warrants for his arrest on charges of first-degree robbery, second-degree burglary, second-degree theft of property and third-degree assault.
He was arrested May 17 on the outstanding warrants and was processed into the Escambia County Detention Center, where he remained late Monday, May 23, under $250,000 bond.
Dustin Lord had not been located by Tuesday’s press deadline, but arrest warrants have been issued charging him with one count each of first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, third-degree assault, second-degree theft of property and second-degree burglary.
